Thane: A 44-year-old shopkeeper was arrested for allegedly molesting a teenage girl in Mumbra township of the district, police said on Wednesday.

The 14-year-old girl had gone to a stationery shop on Tuesday afternoon when the incident happened, police sub-inspector S K Sonawane of Mumbra police station said.
As the girl entered the shop, located at Rashid Compound, the accused, Abdulla Abdul Gani Sheikh, pulled her inside and allegedly molested her when no one else was around, he said. The frightened girl later informed her mother about the incident who approached the police and lodged a complaint against the accused.
Subsequently, the shopkeeper was booked under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of IPC and section 7 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act-2012 and arrested, police said.
