Cristiano Ronaldo creates history to become football's first billionaire

The Portuguese and Real Madrid star is football's first €100 million-a-year (Rs 729 crore) earner after signing a series of new mega sponsorship deals, reported British tabloids.

Cristiano Ronaldo has officially become the world's richest footballer. The Portuguese and Real Madrid star is football's first €100 million-a-year (Rs 729 crore) earner after signing a series of new mega sponsorship deals, reported British tabloids. Ronaldo recently extended his contract at Madrid and also with American sportswear giant Nike.

This is besides other endorsement deals he's part of.

Ronaldo's lifetime contract with the US sportswear major, a first for the company, is said to be GBP 1 billion (Rs 8400 crore), while the new Real deal will see him earn £500,000 (Rs 4.2 crore) per week.
