Shot putter Inderjeet Singh, one of the 36 Indian track and field athletes who qualified for the ongoing Rio Olympics, will not be able to compete in his event, scheduled for Thursday, due to the delay in the legal processes the athlete has been involved in after he returned positive for banned substances in his dope test conducted by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) last month.

“I am very disappointed. I was practicing for the last 15 years to make it to the Rio Olympics. I never used to go for any vacations nor did attend any festivals,” Inderjeet told mid-day yesterday.
Inderjeet’s preparations took a major hit after the news of his failed dope test broke. The Haryana athlete, who has blamed his failed dope test on sabotage, recently alleged that his dope results might have been tampered with as NADA gave him two different results on the same sample collected on June 29. NADA however refuted the athlete’s claims.
