US Marine Jarrod Haschert posted a video on a social networking site last Thursday saying that he needed a date to the Marine Corps Ball in December and that there was only one person he was interested in taking along for the dance — Ronda Rousey.
The 22-year-old soldier is a huge fan of the MMA queen and refers to her as his celebrity crush. "I love everything you do, and I think you are a phenomenal person.
You would truly be making my dreams come true. I really hope you get this, and take consideration into it, thank you very much," said Haschert in the message posted on Facebook.
The video instantly went viral and became an online rage with over four million views till Tuesday night. And yesterday, to everyone's surprise, Rousey responded in the affirmative.
Twenty-eight-year-old Rousey told a cameraman of American gossip and entertainment website TMZ that she would love to go out with Haschert.
"I would go for sure. He's cute. He's got to be a gentleman, though. I'm not a 'first date' kind of girl. But, I don't know, we'll see when I meet him," Rousey told the cameraman during an interview.
Rousey went on to explain that initially she had a fight slated around the same time the prom was scheduled, but since the fight had been postponed, she was now free to attend the prom with the US Marine.
However, the multi-million dollar-earning fighter said she was rather unsure of how to make the next move now that she'd agreed to the date.
"Do I call him or do I set up a time and place like Never Been Kissed and wait until the clock runs out and be like 'I'm here'," she asked the cameraman, who told her that she need not worry as the US Marine would be more than happy to take things forward.
