In the chaos of citizens waiting in the line to get their currency exchanged, a 73-year-old man, who was standing in a queue outside a State Bank of India branch in Mulund collapsed on Friday afternoon.


The senior citizen identified as Vishwanath Vartak, was standing in a queue at Navghar area of Mulund (East) to exchange his notes when he suddenly fell down at around 1.30pm, police said.


As he fell, some people, who were also in the queue, rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead before admission, said police adding that the body has been sent for post-mortem

According to initial reports, Vartak died of a heart attack, police said.
