Her tiny, sumptuous Baklava could be the hit of your next house party. And if the Turkish pastry is not your cup of tea, Gujarati chef Reshma Choksi's Falafels, Mini Pizzas and Guacamole will have you eating out of her hand

The world is truly a global village. You know that's more than true when you take a bite of a traditional Turkish dessert made by a Gujarati from Mumbai, and delivered to Delhi.

Unlike the sugar-syrup-dripping variety you get at the neighbourhood mithaiwala or the dull packaged assortment dished out at supermarkets, Walkeshwar resident Reshma Choski's Baklavas (filo pastry stuffed with nuts, native to Turkey) is a tiny drop of heaven, fresh and with just the right amount of sugar rush.

Besides, it's also 100% vegetarian. And that's what her Jain customers love.

"The first time I served my Baklava was at a party my daughter-in-law hosted at home. The guests loved it and insisted I cater.

Now, I deliver kilos of my Baklava all over India," smiles the woman behind Savory, a home-run multi-cuisine catering business.

She smiles when we ask her which cooking school she went to. "Cooking comes naturally to you. My love affair with food began in my mother's kitchen, and continued at every restaurant I ate at. Everything I have learnt is through trial-and-error.

My family always ends up playing guinea pig," she laughs.u00a0 She serves fresh-from-the-oven Tortilla Chips with an assortment of dips (Cheese Sauce, Hummus, Guacamole, Sour Cream and Salsa, made with ingredients she personally picks out).

Almost every dish, whether the Mini Pizzas, Pastas, Pad Thai Noodles, Falafels, Biscottis or Enchiladas, can be made to suit the Jain palate, without onions and potatoes.

Her prices that range from Rs 300 to Rs 650 per person per dish, may seem steep but like she says, "I don't compromise on quality. Every time I take an order, it's as if I am cooking for my family."
