Tough semi-final helped, says Tata Open badminton winner Sayali Gokhale

Playing a tough semi-final match stood Sayali Gokhale in good stead for the women's final of the 2nd Tata Open badminton tournament. Sayali played the longest match of the tournament against her semis opponent Trupti Murgunde, which lasted 70 mins. And, having been tested to the full, playing the final against Neha Pandit felt relatively easier, said Sayali.

National champion Sayali won in straight sets 21-19, 21-15 to lift her maiden TATA Open title. "The semi-final was a more important game for me. I was really tested. The game against Trupti certainly helped me to do better in the final," Sayali said.

"This win is very special and means a lot to me. I wanted to win it really badly. Neha was moving very well today, so I had to keep my cool," added Sayali. Chetan Anand won the men's title.
