While veteran actor Dilip Kumar was discharged from the hospital on Thursday and is currently recovering from bronchopneumonia, yesteryear actress and heartthrob, Sadhana Shivdasani is reportedly also on the road to recovery after a recent emergency surgery. The actress, famous for her legendary fringe, underwent a surgery on Wednesday due to her deteriorating health and a bleeding oral lesion, and could soon be discharged, said her doctor.

Better known by just her first name, Sadhana is currently recuperating at the Asian Institute of Oncology (AIO), a unit of K J Somaiya hospital, Chunabhatti. The surgical oncologist, Dr Deepak Parekh said that the actress is now in a stable condition and will be discharged in a day or two.
The 74-year-old was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday, due to bleeding in her mouth. “Her situation was critical as she had a bleeding oral lesion. Due to her deteriorating health we had to perform the surgery immediately. The operation was successful and she is responding to the medicines. She will be discharged in a couple of days,” said Dr Parekh of the nine-hour procedure. The lesion tissues will be sent for a biopsy at the AIO centre to determine if they are cancerous, based on which a line of treatment will be determined, confirmed the doctor.
Sadhana’s family, however, has refrained from making any statement on her health, calling it a ‘confidential family matter’. Sources confirmed that Sadhana’s niece, Geeta and actor Aftab Shivdasani are attending to her needs and the medical expenses.
The actress was popular in the 1960s and early 1970s, and is remembered for films such as Mere Mehboob, Mera Saaya and Waqt. However, over the past few months, Sadhana had reportedly become a recluse of sorts, due to her failing health. One of the last events she attended was a Shaina NC fashion show in May, when she had graced the ramp alongside actor Ranbir Kapoor.
