Kohli, Sachin, Zaheer thank Maha Police; change display pic on Twitter

The Maharashtra police are doing everything in their stride to counter the COVID-19 pandemic in Mumbai and now, three Indian cricket stars have taken to social media to honour them.


Indian captain Virat Kohli was the first to pay respect for all that's being done by the Maharashtra Police in Mumbai by changing his display picture on Twitter to the Maharashtra Police logo.


Former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan was next in line to do the same and the Indian cricket legend Tendulkar followed suit. Here's al ook at their posts on Twitter.


Taking to Twitter the veteran batsman changed his Twitter display picture with state police logo and wrote: "A big THANK YOU to the Maharashtra Police & the Police Forces across India who have been tirelessly working 24/7 to keep us safe."

Virat Kohli paid his respects to Maharashtra cops by changing his display pic and also encouraged other online users to do the same. He wrote, "Maharashtra Police has stood by citizens through calamities, attacks & disasters. Today as they lead the war against Corona on the streets, I've decided to celebrate them by changing my DP here on Twitter to the Maharashtra Police logo. Join me in this."

786 personnel from the Maharashtra Police have tested positive for COVID-19 so far, according to the department on Sunday.

According to a release issued by the Maharashtra Police, the total COVID-19 cases include 88 officers and 698 other personnel. Out of these, 13 officers and 63 other ranks have recovered from the infection so far.

The active number of COVID-19 cases amongst Maharashtra Police stood at 703, with seven deaths due to the infection so far.
