Liverpool and England captain Steven Gerrard has already said that he would not want his wife Alex Curran and kids to travel to Brazil to watch them compete in the FIFA World Cup in June. However, Curran is keen to defy him.

Gerrard recently said that a team of WAGs (wives and girlfriends) traveling along can be "a distraction" for the English team. But according to a British tabloid, Curran (31) has said that she will fly out to Brazil if the Englishmen progress in the tournament. "If it gets to the late stages, I'll definitely go," said Curran yesterday.

A team of WAGs had travelled to Germany for the 2006 World Cup and were eventually blamed when England didn't fare well there. So, Gerrard recently said: "I thought it was bit of a distraction in 2006.
So in 2010, when I set off for the World Cup, I preferred my family to be away from me and I could focus on trying to get my form right. I will be doing the same in Brazil."
England coach Roy Hodgson has permitted WAGs to be in Brazil but stressed that they would not be part of the English FA-sponsored official England team party.

Curran however, clarified that she would not take her three daughters — Lilly-Ella (10), Lexie (8) and Lourdes (3) along, as it would be inconvenient to "drag them along."
Meanwhile, Wayne Rooney's wife Coleen McLoughlin is also keen to join Curran and the England team in Brazil.
Coleen (27) said yesterday: "We'll be going out to support Wayne and the boys."
