Gautam Gulati talks about his nudity clause with Ekta Kapoor as well as his love life and blink-and-miss role in an upcoming biopic 'Azhar'

Gautam Gulati likes to pose shirtless, as evident from his Instagram account. His female fans may be drooling over his rippling muscles and six-pack abs, but the actor says he won't strip on screen. In a candid chat with hitlist on television, film offers and his love life, Gautam bares it all:
Q. Ekta Kapoor gave you the first chance in television and now, your first break in Bollywood (in Azhar). What does she demand from her actors?
A. I had done four TV shows with Balaji Telefilms (Ekta's production house) after which I moved on. After watching Bigg Boss, Ekta told me that I am made for bigger things and that I should lay off TV for a while. She didn't ask me to give it up.

Q. We heard of a nudity clause that you have signed with Ekta. What is the deal all about?
A. I have a three-film deal with Ekta. Azhar is the first one (in which Gautam plays cricketer-turned-commentator Ravi Shastri). After that, I was to do a film directed by Ken Ghosh but it had nudity in it. I had to shoot a sex scene which I was not comfortable with, so I refused. Post that, they have not offered me any roles.
Q. Is the three-film deal cancelled?
A. I don't think so. They don't have any movies at present. The moment they get a project that will suit me, I am sure they will approach me again.
Q. Azhar is not about you. Do you think it will be an ideal debut?
A. Azhar is my introduction to acting in Bollywood. My debut is yet to happen. I know it is small, but it is an important role that will make people notice me. They can't ignore me in Azhar.
Q. How is life in TV different from that in films?
A. It is easy to get roles in TV and get stuck. But with films, they are specific about who they want for a particular role. With TV, even if you don't have a great skill set, it's easier to get roles as compared to films.
Q. What next after Azhar?
A. At present, I have nothing lined up. Post this movie, I hope people will approach me for more films.
Q. Do you think people are not approaching you because they think you have attitude issues, especially since you walked out after announcing a film.
A. I made the mistake of agreeing to do the film and going on stage to announce it. Industry friends advised me not to sign a project without corporate backing.
Q. One thing you will never do on screen?
A. I will never do a sex scene.
Q. You have a big female fan following on social media. Tell us about your love life.
A. I am currently single and I don't intend to get into a relationship. After three-four years, if I don't find anyone, my mother will start her hunt for me.
