Mohali: The prevailing tension between India and Pakistan did not prevent hardcore Pakistani fans from travelling to India. Murtuza Zahur, who is here with his wife, sister and brother-in-law from Lahore, was delighted to be in India for the first time.

"We had heard so much about Indian hospitality and the people that we wanted to experience it and this was a good opportunity to do that as we can also support our team in the competition. We are having a great time here and India is treating us very well. It is an experience in itself and we are loving it," Zahur told mid-day as he made his way to the hospitality box. Shahid Afridi & Co too got a good support here yesterday with the Indian crowd coming in large numbers to support the neighbours.
New bat for Kane, but same result
The excitement on Kane Williamson's face was palpable when he unveiled his new bat during a training session on Monday. He had a good close look at it and was excited to test his new weapon so that it could be ready for the Pakistan clash. The New Zealand skipper, however, did not enjoy the kind of success he would have wanted yesterday after scoring 17 off 21 balls. Williamson mostly dealt in singles and twos, and finally perished while playing an uppish shot in the covers.
The Kiwis did not feel the pressure too much with Williamson's opening partner Martin Guptill doing bulk of the scoring through his lofty shots and drives. Williamson likes to lead from the front and the skipper would have been keen to get some runs under his belt with scores of 8 and 24 in the first two matches.
