Meet Aswini Bajaj – Who Chose To Be A Teacher Despite Having A Lucrative Career In Finance Ahead!

Aswini Bajaj

A graduate in Commerce from Kolkata, and with an enviable profile of more than a dozen degrees in his kitty viz., CA, CS, CFA, FRM, CFP, CAIA, CIPM, CCRA CIRA, CIIB, AIM, RV, he chose to leave his corporate job in ‘MIS, Budgeting & Forecasting’ at Gurgaon, at the mere age of 23 to become a teacher. Despite hectic weekdays at work, he would still feel energized while teaching students, senior to him in both age and experience, for CFA and FRM over the weekends in Delhi. Their amazing feedback enthused him with the zeal towards teaching as a life plan, which eventually led him to resign and return to his hometown to be a full-time teacher.

While, students were getting to know about him, his passion to teach and, making humble cold calls and shooting mailers led to a series of corporate trainings in several Nifty-50 companies and guest lectures at prestigious universities of India, including several IITs and IIMs. Things took a turn when he launched his YouTube Channel in December 2015.

“Before Gurgaon, I had taught a few batches at my dining table. It takes time to build a reputation and name for yourself. It was not easy in the beginning, but YouTube gave me recognition and resonance with my audience,” he added. Nearing 1 lakh subscribers on YouTube alone, Aswini also shares his unfiltered thoughts and insights on Instagram and LinkedIn. An avid reader himself, the Bhagvad Gita is his most recommended reads for Life Management. He maintains that he is a teacher and not an influencer while he posted “My Opinions are not for Sale”. He believes in saying things people should hear and not what they want to hear.

Teaching in over 100 countries today, he always stays in touch with his students and mentees. In fact, what started as a couple of consulting gigs with only one student is now a formidable team of CFA Charter Holders and CFA and FRM aspirants: this company, Leveraged Growth Pvt. Ltd., provides consulting services to start-ups, SMEs and listed companies in Finance, Valuations, Pitch Decks and Management Consulting. While we questioned him on how he manages the work at Leveraged Growth, Aswini said, “The team executes; I am here to solve any queries and issues they may encounter, or to provide direction for unique projects. The objective is simple: To Apply what I Teach and to Teach what I Apply. My involvement in the consulting space brings industry insights into my teaching, and this evolving academic depth adds more dimensions and expertise to my consulting.”

Not having stopped at this, he is working on a couple of more projects. With his Motto “Invest In Yourself”, he inspires his cohort and himself to never stop learning. Having delivered Guest Lectures at nearly 100 colleges already, he recently attended a 4-day Executive Programme in PE VC space at IIM Bangalore – as a student. Aswini Bajaj enjoys spending his time reading, traveling and interacting with his students and mentees across the world, whom he continues to inspire with his aforestated mantra.
