Sunjay Kapur and Karishma Kapoor: Friendship and Co-Parenting

In the year 2016, when Sunjay Kapur and Karisma Kapoor parted ways as life partners on mutual consent, the bond of co-parents remained intact. Parents to two beautiful children Samaira Kapoor and Kiaan Raj Kapoor, these two established individuals have paved the path for couples who remain friends post a divorce.

Both parents play an equally important role in parenting after a separation or a divorce, so it was important for Sunjay and Karisma to give each other maximum support and communicate openly. There were many important decisions for them to make together pertaining to the well-being of both their children. Mutual understanding and kindness have led to a beautiful bond that both the individuals and families now share.

After 11 years of marriage, a divorce potentially could take a toll on the people closest to it, but that was avoided with the simple act of understanding - understanding each other, each other’s lives, goals, and expectations from the former partner. Karisma and Sunjay both did the dutiful act of giving their children the utmost love, support and care. Going beyond societal norms, Karisma and Sunjay cleared the air between them and started with a clean slate, as friends, well-wishers and of course, co-parents.

The path of successful co-parenting is not easy. It is a process that needs continual adjustment and improvisation. From setting time boundaries to family celebrations, it can be difficult in the beginning. Nothing starts off easy, but with perseverance, it is possible, as it was in the case of Sunjay and Karisma.

Both individuals have had most of their lives in the limelight thanks to their backgrounds, therefore maintaining privacy was tricky, but they handled it with the utmost grace and gentleness. Never once letting gossip flood their relationship with sour emotions, these two adults remained at the forefront, yet held their children’s hands strongly and presented a united front.

No two parents agree on each and every decision. However, co-parents who work together well for the sake of their children reach a basic level of agreement on the most important things, like issues pertaining to their children’s health, education, and a well-rounded upbringing. Co-parents like Sunjay and Karisma, who share a healthy relationship are also well aware of how important they both are to their children. They have worked hard to get to the point where they can work well with each other because they value their children’s opportunity to know and spend time with the other parent, and even though it can be difficult sometimes, they wouldn't have it any other way.

Setting an example for the future generation, now both these individuals live amazing lives with their families. This, however, does not distract them from providing the essential care and love to their children together, nurturing them with support in every decision and seeing to all their needs. It takes two to tango, and Karisma and Sunjay surely lead the way.
