A grand tribute event was held today in Ghazipur to mark the 75th death anniversary of Swami Sahajanand Saraswati, the great freedom fighter, social reformer, and visionary. On this momentous occasion, Shri Upendrra Rai, Chairman, Managing Director, and Editor-in-Chief of Bharat Express News Network, was present and was honoured with a floral garland and a commemorative memento.
Addressing the gathering, CMD Upendrra Rai spoke openly about the deeply rooted issues of caste and religious discrimination in India. He said:
“India has around 3.8 million castes and 350,000 religious sects. If this diversity had turned into our strength, it would have been a different story. But unfortunately, it has become a basis for division. Until we break these walls, inclusive development will remain a distant dream.”
He further added,
“India now needs a spiritual transformation that liberates us from casteism and empty rituals.” Quoting Swami Sahajanand Saraswati, he recited:"Mandir, masjid, girja ghar ye jagmag-jagmag karte hain,
Aur ibaadat karne waale bhookhe-nange marte hain.
Jo ann-vastra upjayeinge, so kanoon banayeinge.
Ye Bharatvarsh usi ka hai, shaasan wahi chalayega."
CMD Upendrra Rai emphasized that these lines are just as relevant today as they were in Swami Ji’s era.
Taking inspiration from Lord Buddha, he said, “Buddha did not believe in god but deeply believed in karma. He taught that our actions leave lasting impressions on our soul, just like spilled water leaves stains in a room. If we improve our actions, our religion, our society, and our nation will all improve.”
He highlighted that Swami Sahajanand’s philosophy is the only viable path to free India from the web of casteism.
“Swami Sahajanand was not just a freedom fighter; he was a revolutionary thinker. His intellect stood on par with great minds like Buddha, Mahavira, and Swami Vivekananda.”
He added,“There has been no one like him in the Bhumihar community. His ideas are still powerful and relevant. If India truly wants to be free from caste bondage, we must return to his ideology.”
Following the main event, CMD Upendrra Rai also attended a separate event organized by the Brahmarshi Welfare Association, where he received a warm welcome. He offered floral tributes to the portraits of Lord Parshuram, Swami Sahajanand Saraswati, and legendary wrestler Mangla Rai.
On this occasion, Mr Rai acknowledged the support of the local community and emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting India’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
