I have a 3.5-year-old daughter and a 3.5-year-old business. They are both growing together, and learned to walk at the same time.
Mama Homee
When corporate systems let her down, Megha built her own, brick by brick, story by story.
Popularly known as Mama Homee, Megha Vij is the spirited founder of The Homeez, a growing community of real people, strongly advocating homegrown brands through experience-led advocacy. But before the business, there was a struggle for resilience.
With the news of her pregnancy, 2021 was a memorable year for Megha, but it was also when she was refused maternity leave, something that became the final nudge she needed to start something of her own. As someone who has previously worked with reputed brands like Limeroad, LBB India, and Roposo, Megha was ready to bet on her capabilities. From her living room in Delhi, she began working with brands independently, building communities while carrying life inside her.
“I didn’t plan on starting a company. I just couldn’t sit still when I knew I could still add value,” Megha shares, while reflecting on her journey as an accidental entrepreneur.
But shortly after her daughter, Gayatri was born, Megha faced another blow: the sudden loss of her father, her rock.
“My father always believed I should start something of my own, & that he’ll be my manager. I would always laugh it off! Looks like he is managing me from above.” Says Megha, with all the fondness there is for her father.
The family moved to Jaipur, with her husband away on Merchant Navy duty and a newborn in tow. Grief and early motherhood collided, but she was determined to make her vision work.
“Those six months were the hardest. I had a baby in one arm and brand strategy decks in the other. At various occasions, I felt I was pining for the impossible. So I started one step at a time. I gave my attention to my baby while taking care of my health, regaining my strength, and building the foundation for my brand,” Megha shares.
Started in 2023 and later rebranded, The Homeez demonstrates the love and labour that went into building the brand. It has now developed into a community that organizes concept-driven experiences to support genuinely purposeful, homegrown brands.
This people-first platform brings creators, explorers, chefs, small business owners, and everyday individuals to experience and advocate for brands they truly connect with.
The core belief? Real people make the best storytellers.
Deviating from the majority of the marketing platforms, The Homeez curates authentic and memorable community experiences like cook-outs, cultural pop-ups, gourmet tables and tasting sessions where brands get the opportunity to meet real humans, not filtered profiles.
From Delhi to Bengaluru (launched in June), Mumbai (launching July 20), and Jaipur (coming in September), the community is growing fast, powered by trust, not transactions.
But the heartbeat of it all remains Megha’s story, a working mother who refused to choose between building a home and building a legacy.
“I have a 3.5-year-old daughter and a 3.5-year-old business. They are both growing together, and learned to walk at the same time.”
Today, The Homeez is a mostly woman-led, high-touch, fast-scaling brand that partners with the likes of Two Brothers Organic Farms, iD Fresh Foods, Gramiyaa, SPRIG Gourmet, Paul John Whisky, and more, all while redefining what influence means.
“Women don’t need superpowers. We just need the right support systems. At the beginning, my husband would come back from sail & get straight to hosting experiences with me. My mother took care of my daughter while I traveled for events. Sometimes, I would take her with me & my in-laws would take care of her,” Megha says.
She may call herself an accidental entrepreneur, but Megha’s journey is a masterclass in intentional, heart-first leadership, proving that when life breaks your plan, it may just be paving the way for something even more powerful.
