Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 1: On this Doctor’s Day, I reflect not only on my journey in the operating room, but on the incredible resilience of my patients-and the immense responsibility we carry as surgeons. In the delicate architecture of the human spine and the complex mechanics of joints, we do not just operate on bones-we work on restoring dignity, independence, and hope.
The Spine: Strength in Structure
The spine is our body’s central axis, silently supporting every motion we make-from standing tall to tying a shoelace. But for many, that structure bends under the weight of conditions like scoliosis, degenerative disc disease, or spinal stenosis. One such patient, came to me with a severe, visible deformity, constant discomfort, and growing limitations in her everyday life.
Spinal deformity surgery is a deeply technical and emotionally significant task. Precision is critical-just a few millimetres off can impact nerve function. But when done right, it is transformational.
Today my patient stands tall with a straight spine, an even posture, and renewed confidence. Patient is not just walking better- living better.

Joint Replacement: Restoring Rhythm to Life
Just as the spine defines posture, our joints define motion. Whether it’s a worn-out knee that can no longer bear weight, or a hip that aches with every step, the result is the same-loss of mobility, loss of freedom.
In joint replacement surgery, every millimetre of alignment and every curve of the implant matters. Thanks to advanced technology-robot-assisted techniques, high-performance implants, and minimally invasive approaches-we are now able to achieve near-natural joint movement, reduced pain, and faster recovery.
Joint replacement is not just about metal and mechanics-it’s about helping someone sit cross-legged again, walk beside their spouse, or climb stairs without fear. It’s about restoring the simple joys of motion.
A Surgeon’s PurposeSurgery is not merely about skill-it is precision with purpose. Behind every successful spine correction or joint replacement is a team, discipline, and the pursuit of perfection. Every morning in the OT, we walk in with one goal: to restore someone’s right to move without pain.
Over the years, I’ve performed 10,000+ surgeries, across the spectrum of orthopaedics. And yet, each case humbles me. Each spine is unique. Every knee has its own story. Our job is to listen-not just with a stethoscope, but with empathy.
Doctor’s Day: Beyond White Coats
This Doctor’s Day, let us celebrate not just doctors, but the trust that patients place in us, the quiet moments of healing, and the collective commitment to human dignity. Medicine may be a science, but surgery is a promise-a solemn bond between hand and heart.ur hands remain steady, our minds stay sharp, and our hearts continue t
