While most teenagers focus solely on their own academic pursuits, Tanish Jain, a Grade X student at Genesis Global School, has transformed his passion for mathematics into an educational movement. Through his initiative "Math Mastery for All," he has trained more than 55 students from limited resource background over the course of two months-completely free of cost-to compete in the American Math Olympiad.
The idea came to Tanish first in the aftermath of Covid when he also saw how the world had adapted to the medium of online education. During the period, Tanish had conducted school remedial classes for such kids & observed them respond positively. It was then Tanish decided to synthesize two powerful mathematical approaches: the structured, discipline-building Kumon method (which he himself completed upto Grade 12 level while in Grade 4 only) and the intuitive mental calculation techniques of Vedic Mathematics to create the curriculum.
"Kumon built my foundation and discipline. Vedic Maths made problem- solving faster and more intuitive. Together, they help students think more confidently," Tanish explains.
Before launching classes, he invested five months in research, developing customised worksheets and lesson plans precisely mapped to Olympiad requirements. He sought feedback from professional educators to refine his materials, ensuring optimal learning outcomes for primary-level students.
"Tanish’s work with ‘Math Mastery for All’ shows what the Olympiad movement truly stands for-students inspiring students. His passion for mathematics and dedication to helping others embody the future of collaborative learning,” said Mr. Rupendra Dubey, Head – Olympiad India
What distinguishes this initiative is its commitment to accessibility. Tanish created a dedicated website enabling students anywhere in the world to access learning materials, session updates, and problem-solving strategies-breaking down barriers of geography and affordability.
"My goal is to make mathematics accessible, enjoyable, and empowering for every learner," says Tanish, whose vision extends beyond individual tutoring to building a sustainable, peer-led learning community where students eventually mentor others,” says Tanish
In an educational landscape often dominated by competition, Math Mastery for All stands as proof that when knowledge is generously shared, it becomes a catalyst for confidence, opportunity, and lasting change.
