Across the country, new categories of hospitality and entertainment are taking shape. They are not quite a theme park, not exactly a restaurant, and more than just an arcade. These hybrid spaces-blending digital gameplay, physical activity, and culinary offerings-are reshaping how families and travelers engage with leisure time. Their appeal lies not in spectacle, but in versatility: the ability to offer something for everyone, in one accessible, high-energy space.

Westgate’s Mystery Fun House Arcade Experience, opening summer 2025 at Westgate Vacation Villas Resort in Kissimmee, represents a clear evolution of this trend. While the name may recall the beloved Orlando attraction of the late 20th century, the new version is less retro revival and more category refinement-a contemporary, indoor destination that layers social zones, food options, and interactive play under one roof.

At 21,000 square feet, the arcade is one of the largest of its kind in Central Florida. It includes a mix of experiences that range from high-intensity to family-friendly. Visitors will find a large-format arcade hall filled with top-tier game consoles, as well as dedicated spaces for multi-sport simulators, neon-lit bowling lanes, a mirror maze, and a retro arcade zone. These are not standalone attractions. They’re meant to flow from one into the next, giving guests a sense of movement and variety without ever having to step outside.

But what separates Mystery Fun House from standard arcades is its integration of food and environment. At the center of the complex is MEGAbites, a food hall styled with whimsical tech-themed visuals and modular seating. Designed to accommodate both families and groups, the space offers a rotating selection of fast-casual dining-ranging from handheld snacks to shareable meals. Nearby, the Sweet Dreamery dessert zone provides a visual and gustatory contrast, filled with pastel walls, candy counters, and an old-fashioned ice cream bar.

This approach reflects a broader shift in resort strategy: building amenity spaces that serve both as attractions and retention tools. Guests aren’t simply passing through on their way elsewhere. They’re staying-and ideally, returning-because the environment supports a full cycle of play, pause, and refresh.

The layout is intentionally flexible. Guests can walk in at any time without paying a base admission fee. Instead, games and simulators operate on a reloadable PlayPass system, which can be activated online or on-site. This model makes the experience adaptable-ideal for both all-day visitors and short-stay guests looking to fill a few hours between other resort activities.

With a new partnership with Chuck E. Cheese, the arcade includes two dedicated zones that add depth to the gaming lineup: Chuck’s Arcade, designed to evoke the nostalgia of vintage CEC centers, and the Chuck E. Cheese Fun Zone, a dedicated kids’ space with age-appropriate activities and soft play elements. For parents, the layout includes Sid’s Bar, which opens directly into the arcade-allowing adults to enjoy a cocktail while keeping an eye on kids nearby.

While the space includes nods to the original Mystery Fun House-such as a museum-style corridor displaying animatronics and memorabilia-it is clearly forward-looking in design and tone. Bright lighting, spacious walkways, and tech-enabled kiosks give the space a polished feel more akin to a cultural venue than a traditional arcade. It’s a place where kids can race for tickets, parents can compete in bowling, and multi-generational groups can gather over sliders and milkshakes without feeling like any one group is being underserved.

In that sense, the Mystery Fun House Arcade Experience joins a new wave of properties-from Meow Wolf to Two Bit Circus-that view entertainment not as a spectacle to observe, but a medium to inhabit. The focus isn’t on themed rides or branded characters. It’s about interactivity, modularity, and spatial storytelling.

With the launch of this $10 million experience, Westgate has positioned itself as more than just a resort operator-it’s now a player in the evolving entertainment landscape, where the lines between arcade, attraction, and hospitality continue to blur.
