Through our awareness and screening efforts, we are working hard to ensure India does not walk into a cancer epidemic,” he added.
Cancer Screening Camp for Workers
In a powerful example of corporate social responsibility and public health awareness, the Noida Apparel Export Cluster (NAEC), in collaboration with Sankalp Cancer Care Foundation and Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre, organised a large-scale Cancer and General Health Check-up Camp. Anjalika International supported the initiative as part of its CSR programme.
The camp saw the gracious presence of Mr. Lalit Thukral, Chairman of NAEC, as the Chief Guest. Also present were Dr. B.K. Singh, a renowned Neurosurgeon from Apollo Hospital, Mr. Sanjeev Gupta, Director of Anjalika International, and Mr. Satendra Singh, Chairman of the Indian Council of Industrial Management (ICIM).
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Thukral stated that the NAEC has so far organised over 25 health camps in garment industries, with a vision to expand this outreach to cover the nearly 1.2 million garment workers across the country. “Our goal is to detect cancer in its early stages and prevent it from claiming more lives. Early diagnosis is the key to successful treatment,” he emphasised. He also mentioned that this mission began with the blessings of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath, and is currently being run as a pilot project in Noida, with plans for statewide expansion.
Dr. B.K. Singh, who has been actively involved in the initiative, shared that over 100 individuals have already been diagnosed with cancer through these camps, and treatment has commenced promptly. More importantly, the awareness campaign has led thousands of individuals to quit addictive substances like gutkha, khaini, tobacco, alcohol, and cigarettes - a significant victory in public health.

Dr. Singh, referring to the grim WHO projection that India may face the highest number of cancer cases globally by 2028. “Through our awareness and screening efforts, we are working hard to ensure India does not walk into a cancer epidemic,” he added.
Adding to the commitment, ICIM Chairman Mr. Satendra Singh emphasised the importance of providing free cancer treatment and support services to those diagnosed. He also echoed Mr. Thukral’s appeal to all factory owners to ensure no deduction in workers' salaries for the day they undergo screening. This humane and progressive step was wholeheartedly welcomed by industrialists, many of whom also pledged to support employees through their treatment journey.
This initiative marks a strong step toward industrial health and social responsibility. With medical professionals, corporate leaders, and industry bodies coming together, Noida is setting a benchmark in preventive healthcare for the working class.
