Solene: Where Goa’s Heritage Meets Modern Luxury and Community

Dhimaan Shah & Nibhrant Shah, Co-founders, Isprava Group

In the heart of Moira, Goa, a 115-year-old family estate has been reimagined into Solene, a private members-only club by the Isprava Group that blends luxury, heritage, and community. Conceived by Nibhrant Shah (Managing Director & Co-CEO, Isprava Group) and Dhimaan Shah (Executive Director & Co-CEO, Isprava Group), Solene goes beyond exclusivity to create meaningful connections, offering a soulful space where homeowners, locals, and like-minded individuals can gather for shared experiences rooted in culture, wellness, and modern luxury.

Solene is more than just a private club; it’s rooted in the idea of community and meaningful connection. What inspired the creation of this concept?

We are a luxury lifestyle company, and all our brands stand on the same pillars which are attention to details and really high-end luxury without being non-inclusive. We love the details and focus on them but ultimately everything we do has a focus on community. Today at Isprava we have a lot of homeowners who have come together as a community and Solene is fundamentally a physical manifestation of that.

Solene is a brand we have always aspired to create. It’s an extension to our group business, we believe it’s a space where Isprava and The Chapter Homeowners, likeminded locals and Lohono customers can build real relationships, a space where like-minded individuals could come together, not just for leisure, but for meaningful moments and shared stories.

Your first club, Solene Moira, opens in a 100-year-old family estate in Goa. How did the history of the space influence your approach to design and curation?

The design of Solene needed to foster connection and community without losing that sense of intimacy. We achieved this through warm, layered materials, thoughtfully curated nooks for reflection, and communal spaces that still feel inviting and lived-in. The de Souza home had a soul we didn’t want to disturb. Rather than redesign, we restored it with sensitivity and respect. Original elements like the altar, woodwork, and grand doors were retained, while modern comforts were layered in thoughtfully. The family’s dining room became a wellness centre, and walking sticks once used by a family member now serve as door handles. Every detail-from the muted velvet and linen textures to the bespoke chandeliers and whimsical art pieces-was designed to evoke the same soulfulness found in an Isprava home. By weaving in Goan heritage, handcrafted elements, and an atmosphere of quiet luxury, we created a space that feels both deeply personal and meaningfully shared.

You’ve described Solene as a place where homeowners and local residents can come together. Why was that integration so important to you?

While Solene is a private, members-only club, it was important for us to reflect the spirit of Moira in both its design and cultural programming. The village is known for its warmth and simplicity, and we wanted the space to feel like an organic extension of that. By collaborating with local artisans, and storytellers as part of our bespoke programming, we’ve built a sense of place that feels connected to its surroundings, even if membership remains exclusive.

With amenities like a glasshouse, sauna, cold plunge, and pickleball court, Solene offers a modern lifestyle experience. How did you balance luxury with a sense of homegrown charm?

For us, luxury is about intention. Every space at Solene was designed to feel warm, familiar, and quietly elevated. So, while you’ll find a state-of-the-art wellness centre and a pickleball court, you’ll also notice lace-trimmed cushions, brass corner guards, and walking-stick door handles, small human touches that anchor the experience in comfort and charm.

But what truly sets Solene apart is how it fits into a larger lifestyle ecosystem. As people seek more than just homes, they seek belonging. Solene becomes more than a club; it’s a lived-in extension of the values our community already shares. It’s modern luxury that doesn’t disconnect-it draws you in, offering a space that feels both elevated and deeply personal.

Community, privacy, and bespoke excellence are central to your brand values. How do those translate into the day-to-day member experience at Solene?

Every experience at Solene is designed to feel personal. Whether it’s a quiet corner to read, a communal table to share a meal at Orangerie, or a local wellness workshop at the Member’s Lounge, there’s space for both solitude and connection. Our members are seen, not just served. We hope they feel a sense of coming home. Not in the literal sense, but emotionally. A sense of ease, of being exactly where they’re meant to be. And everything we do at Solene is centered around giving our members this.

You've launched a club in Moira but have plans to expand across India. What kind of neighborhoods or communities are you looking to be a part of next?

When we first ideated a members only club, the vision was simple–to create a brand that is the best in the world which is exclusive and luxurious. Building communities and relations is at the heart of everything we do at Isprava Group and Solene is the physical embodiment of that. For us, the growth in Solene is about ensuring that it grows in a very systematic, scalable and very value driven manner. We will of course eventually open an even bigger club in Goa, in Alibaug, and so on, but of course those will come at the appropriate times. We have an existing homeowner community in these places and our club will integrate them with the local community.

From a hospitality standpoint, how does Solene differentiate itself from traditional private clubs or boutique retreats in India today?

Most private clubs focus on scale or status. At Solene, we focus on depth of experience, of connection, of culture. Our setting in a 115-year-old home in Moira gives us a soulful foundation, but it’s our curation that keeps it alive. Every month, we build a bespoke calendar of events. August for example has artful film screenings and board game nights to guided agave tastings, retro bar takeovers, and live mehfils. They are designed to create a sense of rhythm, reflection, and joy for our members. It’s about genuine moments that feel personal, intentional, and quietly unforgettable. Our programming is designed and based on two basic, fundamental pillars-one is community, that is building and bringing this amazing community and tribe we have built together more regularly and the second is uniqueness.
