Following Sunjay Kapur’s demise, the family feud over his property and assets has now taken the legal route. Earlier on Tuesday, it was reported that his kids with Karisma Kapoor, Samaira and Kiaan, have approached the Delhi High Court asking for their share in his Rs. 30, 000 crore estate. They have also accused their stepmother, Priya Sachdev, of changing Sunjay's will and excluding them from it. Now, Sunjay’s sister, Mandhira Kapur, has claimed that after her brother’s demise, her mother, Rani Kapur, was locked in a room by many people, including Priya and was forced to sign some legal papers
Mandhira Kapur makes shocking claims
While talking to CNN News18, Mandhira said, “I was there, banging on the door, not knowing what was going on. I know the doors were locked. My mother told me. She was in a grieving space. She did not know what was going on. I spoke to her, she told me, ‘I have signed something. I did what I was told. I don’t know what I have signed’. She was very upset. Since then, we have been trying to find out what my mother signed. We are not getting any answers.”
She added, “For me to see how my mother today, everything being stolen from her, is personal. All of us were taught to look after our mother. It was inbuilt in us. It is very personal."
Mandhira says family was close to Karisma even after divorce
Reacting to Samaira and Kiaan's lawsuit against Priya and their exclusion from Sunjay's will, Mandhira Kapur Smith told HTCity that it was “sad” that the kids have now been dragged into the dispute.
Mandhira says, “We’ve not been allowed to grieve since this (Sunjay’s death) has happened, and it’s been a constant shock every day. My mother (Rani Surinder Kapur) did not want to take this to court, and we still hope that Priya would come forward and give us what we are asking for. It’s been unfortunate that his children have been cut off [from] his will.”
Currently residing in the UK with her mother, Mandhira shares, “My mother should be able to decide what’s going to whom. It’s been horrible. It’s like I keep saying, it’s a nightmare we want to wake up from, and we’re not being allowed to even grieve.”
Mandhira also highlighted that their family always had good relations with Karisma and her children, even after Sunjay and Karisma's 2016 divorce. She noted, “We’ve always had good relationships. I think if anyone knew my brother and his relationship with his children, this is the most bizarre thing that has come out: that they’ve been cut off and Priya is the sole beneficiary of this will.”
