Karan Johar's directorial debut, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, completed 25 years today. On Sunday, a special fan screening was hosted in Mumbai at a suburban theatre. The director along with Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji surprised the audience. Kajol gave it a miss.

During the screening, Shah Rukh addressed the audience. He said, "Is film ka humare liye bahut hi important makaam hai humari zindagi mein, humare dilo mein. Aap log thoda bahut samajhte ho, pura nahi samjhoge kyunki kuch kuch hota hai (this film is a very important milestone in our lives and in our hearts. You people understand this to some extent but you cannot understand it fully because there is something that happens)."

He further shared, "Ab pata nahi love story karu ya nahi karu, ab jawan bachcho ko karne do (now I don't know if I should still do a love story, let's leave them for younger actors)."

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai released on October 16, 1998. The film was centered around Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan), Anjali (Kajol) and Tina (Rani Mukerji). Rahul, a stud of the college, falls in love with Tina, a glamorous yet desi-at-heart London-returned new girl. Anjali, a tomboy and Rahul's best friend secretly loves him. She is heartbroken with Rahul and Tina's closeness. Years later, Tina passes away during childbirth but wants their daughter to reunite Rahul and Anjali. The latter undergoes a major transformation and succumbs to conventional beauty standards.

On October 10, Sony Music India teased fans with a nostalgic moment on Instagram. Sharing the poster of Tujhe Yaad Na Meri Aayee, their caption read, "Throwback Tuesday: After 25 years, here's bringing back all the feels with #TujheYaadNaMeriAayee by @bpraak and @jaani777 Coming soon. @jatinpanditofficial @lalitpanditofficial @sameeranjaanofficial #TuesdayMood #JatinPandit #LalitPandit #Jaani #SameerAnjaan #BPraak #ComingSoon #StayTuned."
