The Mumbai underworld has inspired Bollywood films over decades.

Calapor

From dreaded gangsters like Dawood Ibrahim to Maya Dolas, many Hindi films have revolved around the dark underbelly of the mafia. Close on the heels of the murder attempt on jailed kingpin Abu Salem recently, we hear that an upcoming film has an uncanny resemblance to the episode.

Dinesh P Bhosle’s film titled Calapor depicts a similar incident in a jail setting. Priyanshu Chatterjee (of Tum Bin fame) will apparently play a gangster, who conspires to kill a sharp shooter lodged in the jail.

The director says, “It is just a coincidence that Salem was shot. My film will provide a clear view to the audience about the happenings in a jail. It will give a key hole view inside a prison.” The Shiney Ahuja and Kangna Ranaut starrer Gangster was also said to be inspired by Salem.u00a0
