Akshay wants to be more than just a host on the small screen
Buzz is that Akshay Kumar is working on another television outing that airs later this year. He is now exploring the possibility of working on the small screen as a co-producer.
Says a source, "Akshay is exploring his options for now. He is keen to do television as well as films. He wants to go one step further than simply being the host."
Says his spokesperson, "Yes, Akshay is in talks but at this stage it is too early to divulge details. He is keen to be part of the production side as well. As he is busy shooting for Tees Maar Khan at present, he will chalk out his television plans in coming weeks."
Keeping in mind his Khiladi moniker, the show will be something the audience instantly connects him with. As the source puts it, "The concept will be action-based and will include martial artsu00a0-- something the actor is synonymous with. Several ideas regarding the show and its format are being tossed around for now."
In his latest TV outing, Akshay has hosted Khatron Ke Khiladi for two seasons on a general entertainment channel. It is learnt that the channel was in talks with him when they sat down to decide on Season 3. But as talks progressed with the actor, the channel decided to reinvent the concept.
Somewhere down the line, the format changed and they decided to move on from a male to a female anchor with cricketers as participants. Priyanka Chopra takes over from Akshay as the host of the latest season.
