Rajpal Yadav cheque bounce case: Businessman recalls crying over unpaid loan

Actor Rajpal Yadav was released from Delhi’s Tihar Jail on Tuesday after the Delhi High Court granted him interim bail in the Rs 9-crore cheque bounce case. The matter is scheduled for its next hearing on March 18. As the comedian received temporary relief, businessman Madhav Gopal Agrawal, who gave money to Yadav, revealed how he cried in front of Rajpal Yadav to repay the loan. Businessman on granting loan to Rajpal Yadav In a recent interview with News Pinch, businessman Madhav Gopal Agrawal of M/s Murali Projects Pvt Ltd claimed that, in the early stages of the dispute, he visited Yadav’s residence and “cried in front of him like a child”, saying he had lent the money from funds he had himself borrowed. Agrawal also opened up about his first meeting with Yadav, and said the actor told him the film was nearly complete and that, without immediate financial backing, “everything would go to waste.” Madhav Gopal Agrawal claimed a formal agreement was executed stating that, regardless of the outcome, Rajpal Yadav was obligated to return the full amount within the stipulated timeframe, and that he allegedly provided a personal guarantee as well. Emphasising that the transaction was a loan and not an investment in the film, Agrawal said he approached Yadav again when the repayment deadline passed. The actor reportedly cited a lack of funds, after which revised arrangements were made on three occasions and fresh cheques were issued. Agrawal added that when Amitabh Bachchan unveiled the film’s music at a public event, he realised that, under their agreement, the negatives and outstanding dues were to be transferred to him once the film was completed. He subsequently approached the court to seek a stay on its release. However, after Yadav reportedly said he couldn’t repay the amount before the release, the two parties reached a settlement and the stay was lifted. The film later failed to perform well at the box office. By 2013, with no resolution in sight, the businessman approached the court once again. After judicial intervention, a settlement amount of Rs 10.40 crore was agreed upon. Although Rajpal Yadav issued multiple cheques toward the payment, they were all dishonoured, causing the legal proceedings to continue. About the cheque bounce case Back in 2010, Rajpal Yadav reportedly borrowed Rs 5 crore from Delhi-based Murli Projects Pvt Ltd to fund his directorial debut, Ata Pata Laapata. The film failed at the box office, and as a result, the loan remained unpaid. Court records indicate that seven cheques issued later bounced. In 2024, the court directed the actor to show a sincere effort to repay the dues. However, in February 2026, the court ordered him to surrender due to multiple breaches of undertakings to repay the amount.

But from what we’ve heard, ‘Bhooth Bangla’ producer Ektaa R Kapoor felt that releasing the track instead of a dialogue promo would instantly grab attention. A source shared, “Akshay and Priyadarshan’s 2007 horror comedy ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ benefited immensely from its title song, ‘Teri Aankhein Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, which became wildly popular. So, this time, with Pritam having composed another song that has the potential to become a chartbuster, Ektaa felt it would catch on among listeners and create buzz around ‘Bhooth Bangla’. Sidharth Malhotra's father, Sunil Malhotra, dies in Delhi

Sidharth Malhotra’s father, Sunil Malhotra, recently died in Delhi at his home. The former Merchant Navy captain reportedly passed away four days ago. The actor along with wife Kiara Advani rushed to Delhi to attend the last rites and are currently in the national capital to be with the family during this difficult time. Sidharth Malhotra pens emotional note Following his father's death, Sidharth took to his Instagram handle to pen an emotional and deeply touching note remembering him. The actor shared a series of throwback pictures with his father and wrote, “He was a man of rare honesty, integrity and culture. He lived by values that never bent. Discipline without harshness. Strength without ego. Positivity, even when life tested him beyond measure. From commanding the seas as a Merchant Navy Captain to facing illness with quiet courage, he never compromised, never lost his grace. Even when the stroke confined him to a wheelchair, his spirit stood tall."           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Sidharth Malhotra (@sidmalhotra) “Papa, your integrity is my inheritance. Your strength guides me every day. Your positivity still holds this family together. You left us peacefully in your sleep, but the space you leave behind is immeasurable. I am who I am because of you. And I will carry your name, your values and your light forward always. Love you Dad," he added, followed by two red heart emojis. For the unversed, Sunil Malhotra was a former Merchant Navy captain and an important influence in Sidharth’s upbringing and career. His passing has certainly left a void in Sidharth's life, as he has often credited his parents for keeping him grounded despite fame. When Sidharth Malhotra opened up about his father's illness Sunil Malhotra was reportedly unwell for some time. Back in March 2025, Sidharth had spoken about his father’s health. During a conversation with Lilly Singh, he said, “My father’s not been healthy for a while, and me being scared or angry at times tend to be a little more harsh on my mother because she’s the one who’s taking care of the meds. My father’s not keeping well to do that, and within that I realised… she suddenly… we got up one morning and just having coffee and tea in Delhi and she started speaking about 20 years back…what she had to deal with when we were much younger or when I wasn’t there or when I was trying to make my own life."           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Sidharth Malhotra (@sidmalhotra) He added, “She would hide that information from us as to you know what my father’s going through and uh and I felt uh I felt slightly ashamed of the fact that I didn’t really give her that credit for the years building up to my father’s health… During that period, my mother had made so many sacrifices that I wasn’t aware of, and I had to deal with her with far more sensitivity and love and, uh yeah, hopefully now I make up for it." On Father's Day last year, Sidharth had penned a sweet note wishing his dad. A part of his post read, "Thank you for being my first hero, my silent guide, and the reason I strive to be better every day."

Dhurandhar: The Revenge

AICWA condemns safety violations amid Dhurandhar 2 team being blacklisted

On Tuesday, the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) strongly condemned the repeated safety violations during the shooting of Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar: The Revenge. This comes after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) blacklisted members of Aditya’s production house, B62 Studios, over repeated safety violations on the sets of Dhurandhar 2. AICWA condemns safety violations The AICWA released an official press note addressed by Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, President of AICWA. In the note, the body condemned the ‘alarming safety violations’ on the sets of Dhurandhar 2 by director Aditya Dhar and his production house. “The life, safety, and dignity of film industry workers, technicians, and labourers cannot be compromised under any circumstances,” the note read. The note further added, “Due to such gross negligence, every year several workers lose their lives, while many others suffer severe injuries caused by fires, electric shocks, and collapsing or unsafe sets. Tragic incidents at Goregaon Filmcity and other studios, where workers lost their lives due to fire and unsafe working conditions, remain painful reminders of the ongoing danger faced by film workers.” In the press note, the cine workers' organisation also stated that they have submitted complaints to the Chief Minister and the BMC, demanding strict enforcement of the rules and strong legal action against violators. “Unfortunately, timely and strict action is rarely taken, which emboldens negligent production houses to continue risking the lives of innocent workers,” they stated. The AICWA also announced that they stand in support of the action taken by BMC against B62 Studios, saying, “When safety norms are ignored, thousands of workers are put in danger. In Mumbai alone, hundreds of shootings take place daily, and a majority of production houses fail to properly follow mandatory legal and safety requirements.” Dhuranhar 2 producers blacklisted by BMC A source from the BMC said that rules were violated multiple times during the shooting of the film Dhurandhar 2. Gas cylinders were reportedly used on the set for cooking, which is against the prescribed regulations. Additionally, the shooting location was changed without obtaining the necessary permission, said the source.Following these violations, the A-Ward office wrote a letter to the Deputy Municipal Commissioner recommending that the studio be blacklisted. However, the studio has not been officially blacklisted so far. The A-Ward office of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has recommended blacklisting B62 Studios, the production company of filmmaker Aditya Dhar. The recommendation comes amid allegations that safety norms and civic regulations were repeatedly violated during the shooting of the film Dhurandhar 2.According to information available, burning torches were used in a high-security zone during the shoot. Terming it a serious security lapse, the Mumbai Police had to intervene and equipment was seized from the spot. As per the source, crew members allegedly changed the shooting location without permission and used the terrace of a building without obtaining the required clearance from the civic authorities. It has also been reported that two generator vans were operating on the set without valid approval from the local administration. In this regard, the BMC has sent a formal letter to the Deputy Municipal Commissioner (DMC), proposing a permanent ban on the studio from undertaking shoots through the state's single-window filming portal. As part of the action taken, the civic body has already forfeited the production's Rs 25,000 security deposit and has proposed imposing an additional fine of Rs 1 lakh. However, the studio has not yet been officially blacklisted, though the proposal has been cleared for further action. (With inputs from IANS)
