In a new role
It's a small budget film but we have put in our heart and soul in it. This is my first lead role, though I think you need to put in the same amount of effort and sincerity in every kind of roleu00a0-- small or big. Only that will fetch you work in future. However, the trend is changing in Bollywood and character actors like me are getting some good scope.
Daayen Ya Baayen is based in Uttarakhand, which happens to be my home state. So, I know that I have to live up to the expectations of my friends and relatives. And I am thrilled that a film has been made on my home state.u00a0
A tough ride
When I first came to Mumbai, people told me that I wouldn't succeed with my looks but I persisted. In fact, someone had told me to visit four major Ganpati pandals in the city to seek blessings, which would enable me to get work. I visited six and today I have enough work on on my plate.
I consider Vishalji (Bharadwaj) as my godfather. My first film Maqbool was directed by him. I had only one dialogue but I gave it my best shot.
He saw my sincerity and said he would make me an actor. I respect him as he kept his promise with Omkara. The film changed my life. The fact that Saif (Ali Khan) shows recognition every time he sees me at a function is very heart warming.u00a0
