A; Action
Dir: George Tillman Jr
Cast: Billy Bob Thornton, Dwayne Johnson, Maggie Grace

What's it about: Revenge is a dish best served cold - or in this case served in the company of The Rock (Dwayne Johnson). Driver (Johnson) after leaving prison starts hunting for the people who killed his brother. However, the task is easier said than done. Cop (Thornton) and Killer (Oliver-Jackson Cohen) are those in between Driver and his ambition. The three play a cat-and-mouse game, dodging bullets and chasing cars.

What's hot: There's no denying Johnson has immense likeability and charm. He's an actor who enjoys action as much as his tomfoolery in comic films. Here he aces his game and goes all out to prove why he's still a leading choice for directors making action movies. The setting is stripped down to the basics. Taking away the clich ufffds, Tillman takes a different approach.

Action being the main hero of the film everything else is just supporting the main drama. There is a no-nonsense approach to the way the story is told. Johnson and Thornton are both in superb form giving their characters the exact amount of edge. Fight scenes don't just spring out of nowhere but are well embedded in the script.

What's not: If you don't expect a great action film then you won't be disappointed. While the focus should have been on action and giving us some great chase scenes, the second half is laden with some unwanted emotional drama that doesn't connect to the story in anyway. It also takes a while to connect with Driver and his rage for revenge.

What to do: Fans of Johnson will lap it up, while others might not keep up with the speed of Faster.
