Gulzar will pen the lyrics for the Hindi version of Subhash Ghai's Nauka Dubi

Gulzar will translate two poems by Bengal's literary giant Rabindranath Tagore for the Hindi version of Subhash Ghai production Nauka Dubi, directed by Rituparno Ghosh.

Subhash Ghai

Ghai explains his choice, "Gulzarsaab is well-versed with Tagore poetry, Bengali and Hindi cinema.

He saw our Bengali film, Nauka Dubi, was impressed by it and accepted my offer to translate the songs for the Hindi version called Kashma Kash.

This will be a tribute to Tagore on his 150th anniversary (on May 6) when Nauka Dubi will release in two languages

He admits to reading a few works of Tagore like Geetanjali, Shesher Kobita, Chaturganga, Ghare Baire and Chokher Bali.

Shreya Ghoshal and Gulzar

"Gulzarsaab kept the tune and subtext intact and gave a wonderful expression to the master's poetry. I believe the tracks are going to be big hit amongst all music lovers.

One is called Teri seemaye koi nahi hain the other track is Manava aagey bhaage re. Shreya Ghoshal will croon both the Bengali and Hindi tracks."

PS: This will be the third song of Tagore's translated into Hindi after Chookar Mere Man Ko (Yaarana) and Tere Mere Milan Ki Hai Raina (Abhimaan).
