How Swades team helped out Road, Movie

In an industry where fraternity is a thing of the past, Ashutosh Gowariker has no qualms helping out fellow filmmaker Dev Benegal. The story goes that Dev was looking for someone who runs a travelling cinema for his film Road, Movie. Benegal had never seen a film in a travelling cinema and he wanted to meet a travelling cinema owner so that his film will look authentic. Since Ashutosh's Swades had a scene featuring one such entrepreneur, he got in touch with the production team of the film. The team then gave him the contact details of one Mahendra Patil, a resident of Satara, who has been in the business of travelling cinemas for more than two decades. Benegal then got in touch with Patil and got the inputs he required for Road, Movie. Patil taught Abhay Deol and Satish Kaushik on the right way to load the equipment onto the truck and assembling it.
