Both Irrfan, 49, and Aayan visited the ashram and took a tour of the world famous charkha loom, in which Mahatma Gandhi himself used to spin khadi.

While Irrfan wore a mint green kurta teamed with black trousers, his son kept it casual in a T-shirt and jeans.

"#FathersDay with #FatheroftheNation at #SabarmatiAshram. @akayaank & I learnt the art of spinning yarn on the charkha," Irrfan posted on Twitter alongside photos.

The actor, who will be next seen in Hindi film 'Madaari', was recently in Singapore for the promotions of his Hollywood film "Inferno", in which he stars alongside Tom Hanks.

Irrfan's other son, Babil, was also present at the premiere.
