Actress-turned-fashion designer Mandira Bedi has launched her first designer saree store in Mumbai
From her long-haired, plain Jane traditional look in her debut serial Shanti to her uber glamourous twist to sarees as a cricket commentator, Mandira Bedi has often experimented with the nine-yard garb that she effortlessly flaunts. And, now the actress has decided to give voice to her creativity through a signature saree line that will be avilable at her new store in Bandra.

While she has designed the collection, the actress gives credit to her husband, Raj Kaushal for encouraging her to take this route.
“One day I bought a few fabrics, took them to a tailor and told him what to do. Personally, when I got them back, I didn't think they were much to write home about, but Raj was impressed and told me that this idea has a lot of potential. He pushed me continuously to believe in myself and design more sarees. Over a period of time, I started enjoying conceptualising sarees and that’s how this label was born,” says Bedi.
The saree collection comprises a mixture of nets, satins, georgettes, silks and chiffon and as far as the USP of the collection is concerned, Bedi shares that every saree is an extension of her personality.
“It reflects my tastes and sensibilities. I intend them to be effective, beautiful, affordable and absolutely wearable. The colours, details and fabrics can be worn by anyone - a fashion conscious teenager or a glamorous grandma,” she confirms.
