R-vision India Pvt Ltd is setting a new example in dealing with film critics. The firm released its first film 27_13.20 Nakshatra on October 29, and are about to release their second film Inn Raahon Se.
After a bitter experience with the so-called film experts or film pandits, they have decided to boycott them. Producer Ravindra Singh says, "These critics ruin a film's prospects just because they have not understood it, which is ridiculous.
They bring out their own frustrations in their review and are always biased. I want to ask them, who has given them the authority to shake up a producer's business? Do they realise the kind of hard-earned money and effort that goes into film-making? And what credibility do they have?
Here, films with four stars flop badly and films with just one star turn out to be superhits.
This smells of manipulation or should I say 'buying' the stars. We make films for the viewers, so let them decide which films to watch or avoid.
"And so, we have decided to not hold any press shows for our films. If a critic wants to review a film, he should go to the theatre, buy a ticket and then do the review." So now the critics who think their opinion is worth more than the budget of the film, here is some food for thought!
