What's it about: It's not just Himesh Reshammiya's relationship that's complicated in Radio. In fact, 'complicated' and 'confused' are two words that will pop up several times while watching this tale of a man caught between his ex-wife and current girlfriend. Set against the backdrop of a radio station, Vivan (Himesh) is a successful RJ whose marriage with his wife Pooja (Sehgal) has met an abrupt end. Soon he bumps into the bubbly Shanaya (Shenaz), a Facebook addict who develops feelings for Vivan. Now, the three spend time together, sing songs of joy and despair as they try to work out their menage-a-trois. Caught between his past and present, Vivan is forced to make a choice he isn't too sure about.

What's hot:
Himesh has a pulse on what's popular, musically. The film has the trademark tunes he's become famous for. Thankfully the nasal twang has been replaced with a fuller voice. The title track keeps playing throughout the first half; the remixed version sounds best. Knowing that acting isn't his best asset, Himesh tries to tone down the histrionics and keep it natural. There is a genuine sincerity in his attempt, though the result might not really match the intention. As Vivan, he excels the most in the light, comic scenes. He has a flair for comedy which he needs to develop. The scene where Himesh has to express his love to Shenaz provides a dramatic moment.

What's not: It's obvious that Radio wants to rope in the youth and will go to any extent to do so. However, using popular lingo or mentioning Facebook doesn't really mirror what the youth want. The attempt is futile and backfires, making the whole ordeal look forced and artificial. Ishan Trivedi uses tricks and techniques to make the film appear current but doesn't succeed. The style of using different chapters to take the story forward doesn't work. The love triangle also seems formulaic and doesn't evoke the needed sentiments. Paresh Rawal's track as a RJ who spoofs his listeners is flat and lacks the punch. Both Sonal and Shenaz deal with characters that don't have much to do other than either bawl or grin endlessly.

What to do: Radio may be music to the ears of die-hard Himesh fans; others would find it a bit out of tune!
