Although her husband Aditya Chopra is one of the most reclusive figures in Bollywood, Rani Mukerji has remained media's darling. The actor, however, has maintained a safe distance from the digital world. But that's set to change with Mukerji making her debut on social media today, to coincide with the trailer launch of her upcoming film, Hichki.

"Given the countless requests that she'd get to join social media, Rani realised that her fans want her to share her life and her experiences with them. She is joining Twitter, Instagram and Facebook and will keep her fans updated about Hichki as well as her life," says a source close to the actor.

Mukerji agrees that she is taking baby steps into the online world to engage directly with her fans: "I'm excited to meet them, talk to them and share my film's content with them online. Audiences, the world over, are now consuming content on digital medium. It is an extremely important and effective medium."
