Russell Crowe is all set to make his entry into Bollywood. The Academy Award winning Hollywood actor has agreed to act in a film on the Kumbh Mela. Crowe will play a middle-aged German writer who comes to India to attain moksha at the Kumbh, but falls in love with a young girl, played by Paoli Dam. The film, to be directed by Sudipto Sen, will be shot in both Hindi and English. The Hindi version is called Amrit Kumbh, while the English version is called In Search Of Immortality. However, don't expect Crowe to speak in Hindi. He will speak in English in both the versions.
Meanwhile, the rest of the crew has some big names too. The music and sound design will be by Academy Award winners A R Rahman and Resul Pookutty respectively. Another Academy award winner Bhanu Athaiya, will design the costumes. Chris Dickens, who edited Slumdog Millionaire and is also an Academy Award winner, will edit the film.

Apparently, Sudipto was on the verge of signing German actor Michal Zebrowsky, who played a Nazi officer in The Pianist, for the male lead role, but when Russell expressed his interest in the role, the deal with Michal fell through. The film will be shot in India.
