She further said Salman Khan is extremely important for the country and his safety should be prioritized. "Salman is also the messiah of the poor. Sonali Bendre

Sonali Bendre: I was given Pooja Bhatt rejects

Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre recently recalled her glory days in Bollywood and revealed some interesting anecdotes. She was talking to Humans of Bombay.  In her hit song in the film 'Naraaz', Sonali revealed all her costumes were hand-me-downs of the main lead Pooja Bhatt, “When I signed 'Naraaz' with Bhatt sahib, the clothes for the second heroine were the rejects of Pooja Bhatt. That’s what came to me. But the advantage of that was her rejects were clothes only I could pull off. Suddenly that one song from Naaraz made me.” Further talking about the importance put on looks in Bollywood, the actress said, “Film is a visual medium, that’s the business. There is no need to shy away from it. If you do not look a certain way, you cannot be on screen. You need to have a certain kind of symmetry, and it is only because of that symmetry I got into this business.” Sonali Bendre is also an outsider and it is a debate that has become mainstream in the recent years. Sharing her two cents on the insider-outsider debate in the industry, Bendre said, “I remember most of my career, I was not enjoying what I was doing. When I was shooting Naraaz, I did not even know ‘5,6,7,8’ was the cue. Everyone started to dance while I was still waiting for the director to call ‘action.’ I was so embarrassed. I felt like an imposter.” Recently, Sonali also spoke about the idea of feminism and what it means to her. Her comment comes in the wake of Nora Fatehi's controversial comments about the same. "The definition has taken on this connotation of ‘male-bashing’ which a lot of us are not comfortable with. I am not comfortable with ‘male-bashing.’ We are looking for equal rights and you want equal rights not up and down. Again that is an imbalance. What you want is a balance and either way when the scale moves and there's no balance, then there is a problem," Bendre said in an interview with Janice Sequeira.  Sonali Bendre is currently gearing up for the second season of 'The Broken News 2'. The show also stars Shriya Pilgaonkar and Jaideep Ahlawat.

Actors with their furry friends

Pet parents Raveena, John Abraham, others share wisdom on a 'pawrfect' summer

The summer season can be unforgiving, not just to humans but also to birds and animals. Bollywood celebrities and pet parents, including John Abraham, Raveena Tandon, Priyamani, and Jacqueliene Fernandez, among many others, have shared their advice on how to help furry friends during soaring temperatures. Raveena, a dog mom to Lucifer, her cute Pomeranian, urged people to place cool and clean water for birds, dogs, and cats during the summer season. The actress told IANS: "Birds and community dogs and cats suffer during the summer. I ask everyone to please place mud pots filled with cool, clean water outside your home or in places where there are community or working animals. Inexpensive mud pots will help keep the water cool and won't tip over." John, an ardent animal lover with two furry babies named Sia and Bailey, shared that rising temperatures can cause dehydration and heatstroke. He places water bowls to help. "Amid rising temperatures, it's crucial to help animals avoid heatstroke and dehydration. By taking simple, compassionate actions, we can help our animal friends beat the heat. That's why my friends and I place bowls of water in gardens and on windowsills, balconies, and terraces," John told IANS. The actor stressed: "It's important to change the water regularly." Actress Priyamani, known for her compassion towards animals and adopting puppies, advised on how to "cool down" cats and dogs. "Unlike humans, dogs can sweat only through their footpads, and they cool themselves by panting. High temperatures can cause them heat stress and physical injuries -- including brain damage -- and can even result in death," Priyamani told IANS. The actress added: "For companion cats, create a well-ventilated space, with windows lined with protective netting or mesh, where they can go to cool down in your house." Jacqueliene, a cat mom to four felines -- Yoda, Loki, Miumiu, and Xyza, strongly believes in "adopt and not shop," which she has been promoting on social media. The actress told IANS that she ensures her "animal companions stay hydrated." "It's also a good idea to feed fruit to birds and animals used for work, as it is a nice, sweet treat that helps them rehydrate," she added. Sachin Bangera, director of Celebrity and Public Relations at PETA India, shared that in the last few days, the emergency helpline received over 110 distress calls about birds and other animals suffering from heatstroke. He emphasised keeping an eye on all animals outdoors and ensuring they have adequate water and shelter. This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies.
