Zaid Khan says Aryan Khan did not show middle finger to the people

Aryan Khan, the son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, is no stranger to controversies. The filmmaker, recently caught in a fresh controversy after a video of him from a pub in Bengaluru on November 28 went viral. After the video, showing him flashing his middle finger at the crowd, went viral, a complaint was filed against him for his allegedly "obscene" gesture Now, politician Zameer Ahmed's son and actor Zaid Khan, who was accompanying Aryan there, has now come in Aryan's support. Zaid Khan defends Aryan Khan While talking to TV9Kannada, Zaid mentioned that the gesture was not meant for everyone present there, but for his manager. Zaid said, “I have known Aryan Khan for many years. We both learned acting at the same place. He had messaged me that he was coming to Bengaluru. So we went to an opening ceremony.” While explaining what actually happened that evening, he said, “There were more people there than we thought. Aryan said that if there were so many people, I wouldn't be able to do it. His manager (also a friend) went to disperse the people. He didn't come for a long time. Then we went to the balcony to see what happened. Then he showed Aryan to his friend-cum-manager. He didn't show it to the people.” About the controversy Advocate Owaiz Hussain S, a resident of Sankey Road, has reportedly submitted the complaint to the DGP, the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner, the DCP (Central Division), the Inspector of the Cubbon Park Police Station, and the Karnataka State Women's Commission against Ayan Khan. He noted that there were several women present at the venue when Aryan Khan allegedly made the gesture, adding that the gesture amounted to insulting their modesty and constituted vulgar and indecent behaviour in a public place. Aryan was in Bengaluru recently to promote his brand D'yavol. IN the video now going viral, Zaid Khan is seen showing Aryan something on his phone while talking to him. As the two, along with a bunch of others, appeared on the balcony of a pub, Aryan was seen flashing his middle finger to someone on the crowd, while waving to others.

Dadi Ki Shaadi makers to wrap shoot in January after end-credit song

The buzz has been building since April when the announcement was first made — Neetu Kapoor and Kapil Sharma would star in Dadi Ki Shaadi, marking Riddhima Kapoor Sahni’s Bollywood debut. Now, director Ashish R Mohan tells mid-day that the family entertainer is set to wrap up soon, and he hopes to release it on Mother’s Day (May 10, 2026) or sometime in April. After a 40-day schedule in Shimla, Mohan shares that although most of the shoot is complete, some patchwork scenes, including an end-credit song, remain to be filmed in January. “I wanted to complete the film after I locked my release date. We had shot a song choreographed by Ganesh [Acharya] master in Shimla earlier this year, but a one-day shoot remained as there was talk of a [conflict between] India and Pakistan,” he recollects. On May 7, India launched strikes on Pakistan in an operation code-named Operation Sindoor. For safety, Mohan returned to Mumbai with the cast and crew. Riddhima Kapoor Sahni and Ashish R Mohan He shares that the finale number features “700 children from the schools in Shimla and outside and has the entire cast in it. I will invite the entire cast to come down [to] shoot the song and scenes — in Golden Tobacco Factory or Film City. [We also have] one-day scene to shoot with Riddhima,” adds the filmmaker. Currently in post-production, Dadi Ki Shaadi is a comedy revolving around a family who gets involved in a family matriarch’s marriage. Earlier, the film — also starring South superstar Sarath Kumar, Nikhat Hegde, Tejaswini Kolhapure, and Sadia Khateeb — was planned for a December release. The makers will now announce the release date on December 20.

Still from Dhurandhar

Dhurandhar box office: Ranveer Singh's spy drama crosses half century on day 2

Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, opened to largely positive reviews. Despite its long runtime of 3 hours and 34 minutes, the film has managed to pull audiences to theatres. The film, which opened at Rs 28.6 crore on Day 1, saw a 15 per cent jump on Day 2. Dhurandhar box office On the second day, Ranveer Singh's spy drama, inspired by real incidents, gained momentum. Owing to positive word of mouth, the film saw a boost in sales. On Saturday, the film collected Rs 33.1 crore at the Indian box office. After two days, the film's total domestic collection stands at Rs 61.70 crore. Commenting on the film’s performance, trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote on X, "Dhurandhar goes on a rampage on Saturday – the film is now in unstoppable mode... While the major centres, especially the national chains, were rocking on Friday, the heartland, too, has joined the party, witnessing substantial growth." The analyst further noted that the film is likely to close its opening weekend around Rs 95 crore. Connection between Dhurandhar and Uri explained Both Dhurandhar and Uri: The Surgical Strike are based on or inspired by real-life incidents. The internet has now found a link between the two films. In Uri, Vicky Kaushal's character Vihaan meets Indian Air Force pilot Flight Lieutenant Seerat Kaur, whose Army officer husband was martyred in an ambush. Seerat is played by actress Kirti Kulhari. After Dhurandhar released, a clip of Seerat and Vihaan’s conversation from Uri went viral. In the scene, Seerat reveals her late husband’s name: Jaskirat Singh Rangi of the Punjab Regiment, who lost his life during the Nowshera Sector ambush. Interestingly, Ranveer Singh's character in Dhurandhar is also named Jaskirat Singh Rangi, who disguises himself as Hamza Ali Mazari to infiltrate Pakistan’s underworld. In Dhurandhar, Rangi is sent on the mission because of his criminal past. However, little is revealed about his backstory, which will be explored in Part 2, offering further clarity on the connection between the two films. If Seerat’s husband mentioned in Uri and Ranveer’s character in Dhurandhar are indeed the same person, then Singh’s character may end up dying in Part 2.

Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan reveals directors unwilling to work with him in early days

Actor Aamir Khan on Saturday said several leading directors in Hindi cinema were unwilling to work with him in the early years of his career despite the success of his debut film 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak' (QSQT). Speaking at the 23rd Hindustan Times Leadership Summit here, Khan said that even after becoming an 'overnight star' after his first film in 1988, he struggled to get offers from the filmmakers he admired. 'I started getting a lot of offers for films but I wasn't getting offers from the directors I wanted to work with. I had a list of directors I wanted to work with, but none of those directors approached me,' he said. 'At that time, even after a superhit like 'QSQT', you still had to establish yourself as a star before the A-graders (referring to the directors) wanted to work with you,' Khan said. Khan said he signed eight to nine films at the time, believing it was modest compared to contemporaries who were doing several dozen films at once. But once shooting began, he realised he had made a 'big mistake'. 'I'm not built to do two-three films together,' he said, as early releases such as 'Love Love Love', 'Awwal Number', 'Tum Mere Ho' and 'Jawani Zindabad' flopped at the theatres. Stating that he was 'unhappy' with his film choices that he made early in his career, the actor said he eventually realised the importance of doing films that have a 'good script, right director and producer'. 'My sensibility did not match the number of people I was working with. These films started releasing and they started bombing, one flopped, then another flopped, then a third one too. I was labelled 'one film wonder' by the media,' he said. The 60-year-old actor said that he realised his career was going down the drain in this manner, as he was so 'unhappy' with what he was doing. 'I used to come home in the evening and cry. I swore to myself that never again will I compromise with my work unless I trust the director, the script is something I love, and the producer is someone who can produce and release it well,' he added. Recalling when he was approached by Mahesh Bhatt for a movie during that career slump, Khan said even though he was keen to collaborate with the acclaimed director he rejected the offer as he was 'unhappy with the script'. 'I was very happy when I got a call from Bhatt sahab, he was on the rise, he had made 'Saaransh', 'Arth', and 'Naam'. I was relieved that finally one director I want to work with is reaching out to me,' he said. But after hearing the script, the actor said he did not like it and was so disappointed that he told Bhatt 'I'll think about it' and went home. 'That night I couldn't sleep, I was like, should I say yes to Bhatt sahab and compromise on what my heart says or should I say no and leave this opportunity to be working with him. Next day, I told him, "I can't do the film as I didn't like the script,' he added. 'Bhatt sahab asked what I didn't like and we started discussing it. But that film never happened,' the actor said. Aamir further said the decision to not 'compromise' on his belief gave him the courage to do films that he truly believes in. ''What was important is that when I felt my career was over and nothing was going to save me, at that time I had conviction and courage to say no to a film that I didn't believe in. That gave me the strength to take all the difficult decisions that I took in my career, like doing films, like 'Lagaan', 'Taare Zameen Par'.' He said had he compromised that day and said 'yes' to Bhatt his career would have had a different graph. 'The fact that I was ready not to compromise at my worst (phase) gave me a lot of strength and that was a turning point for me.' Aamir last appeared in 'Sitaare Zameen Par', directed by RS Prasanna. The film skipped an OTT release after completing its theatrical run. Khan, who also produced the movie, released it on YouTube via a pay-per-view (PPV) model for Rs 100. The actor took to his Instagram, and shared pictures and videos from an undisclosed location. In the pictures, he can be seen in a relaxed mood. He wrote in the caption, “Pros: I come with experience Cons: I come with baggage”.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Babil (@babil.i.k) Earlier in May, Babil had deleted his Instagram profile as the web search of the actor’s Instagram profile didn’t yield any result, and showed the webpage wired to Instagram account as non-existent. In the video, Babil mentioned several names, including Shanaya Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Arjun Kapoor, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Raghav Juyal, Adarsh Gourav and even Arijit Singh. Arijit Singh? There are so, so many more names. Bollywood is so f******. Bollywood is so, so rude”. Still from Panha

Dia Mirza’s Panha triumphs at ALT EFF, celebrated for its quiet emotional power

Dia Mirza’s production venture One India Stories has won Best Indian Short Film at the All Living Things Environmental Film Festival (ALT EFF) for its debut film Panha, a moving, intimate story about home, heritage, and the price of progress. Founded by childhood friends Dia Mirza and Ananya Rane, One India Stories was born from a shared belief that storytelling can build empathy and spark change. Panha marks their first film under the banner, and its journey has already touched hearts far beyond the mango orchards of Maharashtra where it was shot. What is Panha about? Directed by Sakshi Mishra, Panha follows a family of mango farmers facing eviction from their ancestral land due to a bullet train project. The story unfolds through the tender eyes of seven-year-old Vithu — inviting us into a world where loss is quiet, courage is fragile, and childhood carries the heaviest truths. The film offers neither judgement nor propaganda, but a rare, humane pause to feel what “development” means for those left in its shadow. Dia Mirza on Panha winning an award Speaking about the win, Dia Mirza shared, “Panha was made with love, trust, and a deep respect for the lives it portrays. This win is for the farmers who opened their homes and hearts to us, and for every child whose story deserves to be seen and felt. Cinema, to me, is at its most powerful when it reminds us of our shared humanity.” Co-founder Ananya Rane reflected on the purpose behind One India Stories, “We started One India Stories to tell honest, compassionate stories that bring people closer to each other and to the world they inhabit. Panha is our first step in that journey, and this recognition tells us that small, sincere stories can travel far.” Director Sakshi Mishra added, “Panha was never about spectacle — it was about stillness, intimacy, and listening. The farmers of Maharashtra didn’t just lend us their orchards; they trusted us with their lives. This award belongs as much to them as it does to our team.” Made on a modest budget, Panha was brought to life by a committed cast and crew alongside indigenous farmers from rural Maharashtra, whose generosity shaped the film’s truth and texture. Along with its ALT EFF 2025 win, Panha has also been honoured with the Best Film award at the 9th World Indian Film Festival Hyderabad, received an Honourable Jury Mention at the 13th Mumbai Shorts International Film Festival, and secured an Official Selection at IDSFFK (Kerala) 2025 — a heartening journey for a film that began with a whisper and is now being heard across the country. Panha reminds us that some stories don’t just entertain — they awaken. And sometimes, the softest voices speak the loudest truths. The film features a talented cast including Ujjwala Jog, Suhas Sirsat, Prithvik Pratap, Sayali Sanjeev, Shubhangi Bhujbal, Payal Jadhav, and Aarav Aeer, each bringing a natural, honest performance that adds sincerity and warmth to the story.
