(L-R) Gitikka Ganju Dhar with Aditya Dhar

Gitikka Ganju Dhar on playing Shabnam Jamali in espionage thriller Dhurandhar

There is a sense of pride in Gitikka Ganju Dhar’s voice when she speaks about Dhurandhar. The actor plays Shabnam Jamali, a Pakistani politician’s wife in the espionage thriller. Stepping onto a set populated by Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal can be both intimidating and inspiring. Yet, she feels differently. “The biggest star for me was the film’s director Aditya Dhar. We are both Kashmiri Pandits, and I keep telling him how proud we all are, as a community, of his craft as a director,” she says. (L-R) Gitikka Ganju Dhar with Rakesh Bedi in the film The director was the reason she said yes to the movie in no time. Remembering the casting call, she says, “The casting team said, ‘Dhurandhar by Aditya Dhar’, and I told them, ‘Don’t even ask me, just say yes!’” Working with Aditya was just as Gitikka had imagined. “Aditya explains thoroughly what one needs to do. After that, you have to deliver it with the energy he is looking for. He is centred and clear about what he wants.” Gitikka’s character Shabnam was envisioned as a brash and overbearing woman. Paired opposite Rakesh Bedi, she says she felt the pressure to up her game. “I knew I had to pack a punch. In an excellent film, every element has to excel for it to truly [work].”

Sooraj Barjatya

Ayushmann Khurrana on playing Prem in Sooraj Barjatya's next family entertainer

A good old family drama was missing from Ayushmann Khurrana’s filmography even as he attempted diverse genres. Now the actor is doing one with the best in business, Sooraj Barjatya. Having recently completed the first schedule of Yeh Prem Mol Liya, he is deeply impressed by the filmmaker’s humility. “Sooraj sir is one of the most successful directors, but he’s simple and hard-working. He works like a nerd, and that inspires me the most,” said the actor. Ayushmann Khurrana Stepping into the role of Prem is a big feat. But to Khurrana, what’s noteworthy is that the role is at odds with the characters he gravitates towards. He explained, “The best part of a Sooraj Barjatya film is that the hero is always a quintessential green flag. I usually love portraying characters who are flawed and have an arc, but here, the entire family is a green flag.” Guneet Monga Kapoor and Karan Johar In 2025, Khurrana had a sole release in Thamma. The actor will open 2026 with Pati Patni Aur Woh Do. He realises that the two offerings are a departure from the out-of-the-box films he has been known for — from Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017) to Andhadhun (2018). “The reason I’m doing films like Thamma and Pati Patni Aur Woh Do for a wider audience is because I also want to do films like Andhadhun and Article 15 [2019]. I believe An Action Hero [2022] could have done better. So, I’m mixing up genres — commercial films with projects that are unique. You have to gain the audience’s faith. That’s what I tried to build with Dream Girl 2 [2023] and Thamma. That will get translated to my other films as well.” Holi 2026 When Ayushmann Khurrana’s ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’, also starring Sara Ali Khan and Wamiqa Gabbi, will release

Dishani Chakraborty

Dishani Chakraborty on performing in front of father Mithun Chakraborty

Dishani Chakraborty, daughter of actor Mithun Chakraborty, is all set to present her upcoming short film One Last Day. The young talent has written, produced, and acted in the upcoming short film. The film revolves around a couple spending one final day together before ending their relationship, capturing the quiet emotions of love, closure, and goodbye. Dishani Chakraborty opens up about her film On the emotional core of One Last Day, she said, “I’ve gone through heartbreak myself, and writing this film felt therapeutic not in a painful way, but in a gentle one. I didn’t want to tell a story about the moment things fall apart. I wanted to focus on the moment just before that, the fantasy of having one last day with someone you love, where you’re still choosing each other, even though you know you’re about to let go.” Dishani on advice from her superstar father Sharing about getting any advice from her father and brother, she said, “I actually had both my dad and my brother come to set one day, which was really special. It’s always a little intimidating performing in front of my dad because he’s my biggest inspiration, but having his support and hearing how proud he was meant everything to me. My brother, Namashi, has been a huge influence on my creative process. Watching him write, produce, and act in his own short films made the idea of creating something of my own feel possible. Seeing that kind of creative independence up close really encouraged me to focus on writing and to trust my voice as a storyteller.” On writing, acting, and producing the film, she said, “It was definitely overwhelming at times, but also really special. Katherine Russell and I wrote the story together—it started as her idea and I spent almost two years developing the screenplay before I felt ready to share it. Acting in a film I’ve written feels very exposed. It almost felt like bringing a diary entry to life, which made the experience incredibly cathartic for me. Producing was the scariest hat to wear because I had never been involved in pre- or post-production before, but I was lucky to have such a supportive crew. My producer, Nidhin Patel, truly guided me through every step, and having that kind of support made the entire process feel collaborative rather than intimidating.”

Sonakshi Sinha

Sonakshi Sinha calls out Air India for flight delay, later deletes post

Been at the airport since 4 am to catch a 5 am flight which has been pushed to 11 am hour by hour for NO DAMN REASON. National carrier it seems. Do better.” She soon deleted the post.  When Anoushka Shankar slammed Indian airlines Earlier this month, sitarist Anoushka Shankar also criticised Air India over its baggage handling after she received her sitar in a damaged condition. The musician said she had flown with her instrument for years without any issues, making the experience deeply disturbing. Taking to Instagram, Anoushka shared a video explaining the damage to her sitar and expressed shock at the airline’s handling despite charging a special fee. In her caption, she wrote that she was devastated by the treatment of her instrument, adding that it was especially painful since she was flying an Indian airline with an Indian classical instrument for the first time in a long while. When Sonakshi addresses online harassment against film industry Recently, Sonakshi spoke out against the growing culture of online harassment targeting members of the film industry, calling the trend disturbing and alarmingly normalised. Addressing the issue at an event in Mumbai, the actor highlighted how unchecked online abuse affects not just performers but also film critics and others who voice opinions. In the video from the event, she said, “Jo cheez jisse mujhe aur dikkat hai (the thing that troubled me) is this open attack on people online.” “Jo sabke saath hota hai, actors ke saath bhi hota hai, abhi toh critics ke saath hai (It happens with everyone from actors to critics),” she added, highlighting that dissent is being met with aggressive online backlash. Calling for collective action, the Dabangg actor said, “I think that is something that we should all work towards putting an end to and try to figure a solution to that.. Ke koi bhi kahin bhi baithkar aapko kuch bhi bol rahe hai and there is not much people can do about it (that anyone from any part of the world can say anything to you and you can’t do anything about it).”
