U/A; drama
Dir: John Lee Hancock
Cast: Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, Quinton Aaron

What's it about: This one is about Michael Oher (Aaron) a homeless black kid found freezing on the streets by a well-to-do housewife Leigh Anne Tuohy (Bullock). Similar in nature to the subject of another film u2014 Lee Daniel's Precious, this one might not be that dark or gritty but it does tell the same story. Set against the backdrop of football, we soon find Oher having gifts and talents other children in his schoolu00a0 might not have. Along the way, the movie touches several topics like racism and prejudice.

What's hot: Easily Sandra Bullock's best performance to date. Using her natural charm to utmost effect she becomes Leigh Anne with ease. A tailormade role for Bullock, she's one of the biggest reasons to watch the film. Also, unlike other sports movies that rely on locker room jokes and one-sided match-fixed climaxes, The Blind Side stays away from the usual clichu00e9s.

What's not: At times, the film and mood gets too sugary sweet to handle. Lines like "You are changing that boy's life"; "No, he's changing mine!" seem heavily dramatic and added for effect. The second side has moments which make you wonder if this is yet another 'white woman seeking salvation by helping a black guy' movie. The issues of racism and the way people see oversized teenagers battling loneliness is loosely handled. Many a time, you feel if this is just a vehicle for Sandra!

What to do: It's a feel good entertainer that has Bullock delivering a knockout performance.u00a0
