Come monsoons and we're at our fashionable worst. We wear clothes that we wouldn't mind soiling and cheap bathroom chappals that we wouldn't mind losing permanently.
Come monsoons and we're at our fashionable worst. We wear clothes that we wouldn't mind soiling and cheap bathroom chappals that we wouldn't mind losing permanently.
But model/actor Sushma Reddy begs to differ. She associates the season with looking good. Here's her monsoon checklist:
Short is hot
It is time to get all your itsy bitsies out this season. Three-quarter pants, culottes, shorts, skirts, dresses are ideal for the rains. But make sure you sport the right fabrics. Cotton is great. Don't go for sheer pieces as they'll make you look hideous when you're soaking wet. Light colours too aren't always the best choice considering that they easily get dirty and are never easy to clean.
Cover up
There are a lot of cute umbrellas in the market that you could pick up. But I don't think umbrellas are all that effective in shielding you from Mumbai's stubborn rains. So you could opt for some funky raingear like raincoats made from vinyl sheets or jazzy windcheaters.u00a0u00a0
Make-up your mind
It is no rocket science to know that you have to use water-proof make-up in the monsoons. However, in this season, I make it a point to go sans make-up unless I'm getting ready for a party or something. Also, since I have oily skin, I have to be very careful in these months. I wash my face frequently and follow the cleansing, toning routine daily.
Not get strand-ed
I'm quite useless in the grooming department because I don't have hair that I need to fuss around with. This might come as a surprise to you, but I don't even own a comb. I just wash my hair and let it dry and it seems to look presentable. I don't use any products nor do I get it blow-dried. But having said that, I do believe that it is important to keep your hair clean to avoid hair fall.
