Akshay Kumar's Kambakkht Ishq releases today. The actor, who was in Delhi for the promotion of the film, took time out to tell us about the USP of the film, what keeps him going and about bouncing back. Read on for excerpts.
You have been jetsetting these last few days. New York, London, then promoting the film in Mumbai and today in Delhi, How do you do it?
Actually, I started my journey from Puerto Rico then I flew to New York, then London then two nights back was in Mumbai and now I am in Delhi. It's very simple. I simply enjoy what I do for a living. Also, I'm a workaholic.u00a0 So, for me, even 48 hoursu00a0 look like merely 4 hours. Plus, everywhere I go I get treated in first-class and people adore me and my films, so I rather enjoy it!u00a0
Most actors keep at least a month aside to promote their films. Why are you never here around release?
No that's not true at all. I have made rounds of Mumbai, Delhi, Calcutta all in three days for the promotion of Kambakkth Ishq. People who envy me and my work like to talk rubbish behind my back but its okay because if my lack of promotion were ever an issue, none of my films would have worked.u00a0
Your last two films haven't done well, are you overtly anxious about the fate of Kambakkth Ishq?
Yes, after a long time in my career, I am anxious and even nervous about a film. But I know have given everything for the film and I hope people like it. See, even a Tendulkar or a Sehwag don't make a century in every match. I can't let failure bog me down. All I can do is work harder and better for my next film.
What is the USP of the film according to you?
The biggest USP of the film for me is Bollywood and Hollywood coming together. Also I feel it's a very young film at heart and the 'battle of the sexes' angle has never come out in Indian cinema like this. That should be interesting for the audiences.
Three reasons why people should see this film?
One, it is a complete entertainer after a long time. Secondly, it is emotional in places and finally, it an action-packed film all throughout with mind-blowing stunts.
What did your wife Twinkle and son think of the film?
They liked it for obvious reasons!
When are we going to see you in a hardcore action film again?
For all my action films fans, watch out for Blue. Its coming out later this year and it will blow everyone's mind. The kind of stunts and action in the film is simply superb.
And finally, what are you looking ahead to now?
Right now, I am looking forward to catching the first day, first show at Chandan Cinema in Juhu, Mumbai tomorrow.
