Zayed's on a new high

Zayed Khan is super excited. And there's enough reason for it. He's just floated a production company with good friend Dia Mirza and has some exciting films on hand. After pacifying his pet dog (who hated our intrusion) Zayed got talking with CS about his career and fashionable image:

New ambitions
I am really kicked about getting into production. Well, my family has been into film-making, so it isn't totally new for me. But it's a different thing altogether when you do it all on your own. It's an exciting time to make films as people are investing in new ideas. Films today reflect a lot of intelligence. And with the right kind of execution, you can make a Rs 10 crore film look like a Rs 50 crore film.

I want to make films that have a universal appeal, social relevance and are entertaining. I want to explore urban subjects that youngsters can relate to. Of course, they will be a bit filmy. We are all filmy people, and we love being filmy. You can't take that out of us (laughs).

Prime motivation
Till now, I have treaded cautiously in my career and tried to make as minimum mistakes as possible. You could say that I am laidback in the sense that I have never gone fishing for roles or projects. I feel I am still growing up and my prime is about to begin. I spent my 20s thinking that I was still an 18-year old guy (laughs out loud). Now, that I have touched 30, there's a sense of renewed motivation.

My two year old son, Zidaan is my biggest fan. He watches my films time and again, which are few till now. So, my wife is telling me to do more films so that he gets newer films to watch. I want to do films that really excite me to the hilt. If there are 70 days of shooting, I should be kicked about going onto the sets for all those days.u00a0

Well, people have labelled me fashionable but I have never made an extra effort to look good. Fashion comes naturally to me as my mom, Zarine and sisters Suzanne and Farah are all extremely fashion conscious. They never allowed me to step out of the house looking shoddy.

As a college-goer, I remember Suzanne making me change a T-shirt if she found it unfashionable. And when you grow up, you travel and get exposed to global fashion. I feel that it's your persona and attitude that ultimately matters. You should wear the clothes and not vice versa.
