Producer Anand Pandit counts himself lucky to have worked with Amitabh Bachchan. Having collaborated with the megastar on Chehre last year, the producer says that the veteran actor’s passion for his craft remains unmatched. “At a time when most people would be content to wind down and enjoy the fruits of their labour, Mr Bachchan is at the peak of his powers as an actor,” he says.

As Bachchan turns a glorious 80 today, his long-time friend has decided to mark the milestone with a special gesture. Pandit has pledged to distribute 8,000 meals today in orphanages across Mumbai and Gujarat. He will also donate 800 hearing aids to senior citizens and kids in Mumbai. Helping others is a lesson he has learnt from the legend, says the producer. “As a fan, I watched every Bachchan film, and then had the privilege of working with him. What I have learnt from observing him is that human beings have an immense power to not only achieve extraordinary success for themselves, but also to inspire others to dream big and achieve glory. The impact he has had on others through his life and work is immeasurable. I wanted to pay tribute to the man and his legacy with this gesture.”
