Actor Siddhant Chaturvedi, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Do Deewane Seher Mein, has traced his journey of polishing his language for cinema. The actor attended the trailer launch of the film in the city on Wednesday, and spoke about his upbringing in Uttar Pradesh, his Bhojpuri roots, and the quiet struggles that came with language, confidence, and self-expression when he first arrived in Mumbai. The actor hails from Ballia, Uttar Pradesh. He shared how his roots shaped his accent and the worldview. Talking about his character in the film, he said, “For me, this was always personal. When I came to Mumbai, for the first five-six years, even my Hindi was broken. I used to speak in Bhojpuri”. He went on to reflect on how language can quietly impact confidence, especially for those who migrate to big cities carrying regional identities. Siddhant spoke about navigating broken Hindi, learning English slowly, and even becoming conscious of pronunciation nuances like the often-spoken ‘sa’ and ‘sha’ divide, a challenge many Indians from different regions face but rarely speak about openly. “It’s not about if you are from UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, Gujarat, the North-East or even Nepal. There’s always a language barrier. And when you are conscious about something like that, it somewhere affects your confidence”, he added. What made the moment even more relatable was Siddhant’s honesty about learning and adapting without losing himself, from picking up English gradually to self-correcting speech patterns through lived experience rather than formal training. He even recalled how falling in love for the first time, with someone from Chennai who spoke fluent English, became an unexpected learning curve, both emotionally and linguistically. Do Deewane Seher Mein is set to arrive in cinemas on February 20, 2026. This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies. 05 February,2026 10:42 AM IST | Mumbai | mid-day online correspondentActor Ahan Shetty, who is receiving a lot of good response to his work in the recently released film Border 2, has said that swimming feels like therapy to him, as it untangles his mind and body, and cuts down on stress. The actor spoke with IANS after the film’s release and said swimming allows him to focus better, and tunes his mind. He told IANS, “For me, it also is kind of like therapy. It just kind of shuts out all the noise and I'm just focusing whether that be in the gym or if I'm playing cricket or paddle or football or swimming. Also, because of the amount of activity we do in our day-to-day life, swimming helps put less stress on the body, but still helps tone the body in a great way”. He added, “So I think that's a very important exercise. And I love doing my ice baths as well. That also helps release some stress and anxiety, and definitely has a lot of benefits in terms of recovery for the body. So I guess just being underwater for me benefits me emotionally, mentally and physically”. Border 2 follows the story of the Battle of Basantar. It was one of the vital battles fought as part of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 in the western sector of India. The Indian troops won a hard-fought battle that secured this area in the Punjab and Jammu sector. 05 February,2026 09:45 AM IST | Mumbai | mid-day online correspondentVeteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai has come out in support of his longtime collaborator and Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman, following the latter's recent "communal" remarks about Bollywood. Speaking to ANI, Ghai, who has worked with Rahman in films like Taal, Kisna, and Yuvvraaj, stated that his comments were widely misinterpreted. "I have known AR Rahman since 1994. It has been several years. I go to his house. We still meet in the studio and we are still friends. Throughout the years, I never heard anything of this sort that he believes in the communal difference in the industry. I have always seen him believing in spirituality and humanity but never seen him talking about religion. He has written so many bhajans as well as Sufi songs. I was surprised when I heard such things. It is being unnecessarily exaggerated and stretched. He is not like that. The film industry is the most secular industry and we work like brothers," the filmmaker said. Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman, in a recent interview on the BBC Asian Network, said that work from the Hindi film industry has slowed for him in recent years, attributing it to changing dynamics in the industry over the past eight years. Reacting to the same, the Oscar-winning composer, in a video message, shared how music has always been his way of staying connected with people and traditions. He went on to add that "intentions" can sometimes be "misunderstood", but his purpose has always been to serve through music. "I have never wished to cause pain, and I hope my sincerity is felt. I feel blessed to be Indian, which enables me to create a space that always allows freedom of expression and celebrates multicultural voices," he said. Rahman's remarks have been receiving reactions from all corners of the industry. Earlier, actors like Kangana Ranaut, Paresh Rawal and Ranvir Shorey also weighed in on the matter. 05 February,2026 07:59 AM IST | Mumbai | The Hitlist TeamIn the seven years since foraying into films with Dabangg 3 (2019), Saiee M Manjrekar has straddled Hindi and Telugu cinema. Fronting director Ram Vamsi Krishna’s The India House, a bilingual movie, feels like a natural progression to the actor. “Shooting a film simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu is both exciting and challenging because you are switching languages and cultural nuances. It requires immense focus and preparation, but it also sharpens you as an actor,” she said. The film marks Ram Charan’s maiden production Featuring in the bilingual offering, Major (2022), helped Manjrekar as she joined the Anupam Kher and Nikhil Siddhartha-led period drama. Talking about her prep for the film that is set in 1905, she said, “Having done Major earlier, I felt a sense of familiarity with the process. But every film teaches you something new. Here, the era is specific and the emotions are put in such a nuanced way. What I love about such projects is how cinema becomes a shared language. On set, you have people from different backgrounds coming together to tell one story.”
05 February,2026 07:50 AM IST | Mumbai | Mohar BasuYou can’t talk about Kohrra (2023) without talking about Suvinder Vicky, its breakout star. Now, the Netflix crime thriller has moved on to its second season, albeit without him, and so has he, with the upcoming series Shabad — Reet Aur Riwaaz. Even then, during our chat, Vicky’s attachment to Kohrra was evident as he asked, chuckling, “Are people missing me?” The second season of Sudip Sharma’s creation features Barun Sobti from the original alongside Mona Singh, a new entrant in the universe. Was it always designed to go ahead without him, we asked Vicky. “Initially, I think the makers didn’t expect the show to blow up in a way that there would be a second season. Sudip has also [said] that. I didn’t even know when the second part was happening, or if it was happening at all. I was shooting for Glory [his upcoming Netflix show] at that time. When I was told that I wasn’t part of Kohrra 2, I thought, ‘Okay, I anyway have work’.” Mihir Ahuja, seen as Jughead in ‘The Archies’, plays Suvinder Vicky’s son in ‘Shabad’ Did he feel bad about being left out? “Not at all. Whatever happens, happens for the good,” smiled Vicky, presumably referring to Shabad. The ZEE5 family drama features the actor as a strict patriarch, who wants his son to follow in his footsteps as a Ragi singer. To Vicky, a parent to two girls, the opportunity to explore a father-son relationship was exciting. He recalled, “After the shoot, I hugged my father, which I had never done in my life. I couldn’t tell him that I love him, so I made an excuse to hug him. I felt so much warmth for him after doing the show.” Unlike his character, Vicky wouldn’t dream of thrusting his wishes on his daughters. But the actor in him is hopeful that they may join the film industry. “My younger daughter wants to become a doctor, but I tell her that she should try acting. My elder daughter has done a Punjabi film. She asks me if she should [continue] and I [encourage her]. My name [may] help her a bit. Ananya Panday and so many star daughters are doing it. So, why not my daughters?”
