A fresh new controversy has emerged for the makers of Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, helmed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh. The film is now facing allegations of script plagiarism from filmmaker Santosh Kumar RS. The claim comes amid the film’s ongoing theatrical dominance and commercial success.
Santosh Kumar accuses Dhurandhar 2 of plagiarism
Santosh Kumar RS alleged that the storyline of Dhurandhar 2 closely reflects a script he wrote and registered in 2023. The filmmaker noted that he observed similarities after watching the film.
He said, “You all might have watched Dhurandhar 2. It is working very well everywhere. After watching the movie, I came to know that it is my script and story. I had written it with a lot of hard work in 2023. I had narrated it to many companies because I was told that if I need big actors in the film, there has to be a corporate organisation backing it."
Santosh claims that the script was formally registered with the Screenwriters Association in November 2023. He further claims to possess supporting documentation, such as email correspondence and registration records, to substantiate his claim. “I tried a lot, and I had sent my story to many people. I am a member of the Screenwriters Association, and I registered my story there in November 2023," He added.
The filmmaker further said that he had approached several major production houses to develop the project, including Sony Pictures, Zee Studios, T-Series, and Dharma Productions. He also planned to star Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead role at the time of pitching the script.
Santosh added that he intends to pursue legal action, saying, “I am putting a case on this movie because even though they have made a good movie, my story has been exploited. I had written the film for cinema and entertainment, but they made it as political propaganda. It is hurting me."
“What happened with me should not happen with anyone, and that’s why I will put my maximum effort to let people know about it," he said.
Who is Santosh Kumar?
According to his IMDb profile, Santosh Kumar RS is a filmmaker hailing from Thirthahalli in Karnataka’s Shivamogga district. He has previously worked as a director, writer and producer in Indian cinema. He made his directorial debut with the Kannada film Campus Kranti (2023), which he had written.
Currently, he is working on the upcoming pan-India action thriller Yuvan Robinhood, predicted to release in 2026, where he has assumed the triple role as director, writer and producer.
