Former Censor Board chief Pahlaj Nihalani has taken digs at superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan during the trailer launch of his upcoming venture 'Julie 2'
The 'sanskaari' Pahlaj Nihalani was recently kicked-off from his position of Central Bureau of Certification (CBFC) chief, and is now back to his basics, which is distributing films.
After his stint as a Censor Chief, Pahlaj Nihalani officially addressed the media on Monday, to launch the trailer of his film 'Julie 2,' starring South sensation Raai Laxmi.
Since, this was Nihalani's first confrontation with the media post his exit as the Censor Chief, he found himself bombared by several questions related to his transformation from a 'sanskaari' man to a person who settled down on distributing to what he calls it a "clean-adult family film"- 'Julie 2.' On the whole, his duty as the CBFC Chief was questioned.
In one of the scenes in the trailer, a filmmaker makes a tasteless statement to Raai Laxmi saying, "Only body and hot body works in the film industry." When asked Nihalani the above term's existence in the glamour industry, he impulsively said, "Unless there’s no content, you show a hot body, a Shah Rukh Khan or a Salman Khan, nothing works."
Well, we are all aware with the bad fate these superstars’ films 'Jab Harry Met Sejal' and 'Tubelight' went through. So, by taking the Shah Rukh-Salman context, did the former CBFC Chief take a dig at the credibility of these superstars stardom?
