Have you heard? Aamir Khan-Advait Chandan fall out?

Aamir Khan and Advait Chandan

Talk in the trade is that all is not well between Aamir Khan and Advait Chandan. Apparently, the actor-producer and director have fallen out in the aftermath of their last venture, Laal Singh Chaddha. While it’s not clear what exactly transpired between the two, sources claim that Aamir may not collaborate with Advait again. This comes as a shocker given that the director has been associated with the actor’s production house for over 15 years, starting as an assistant production manager on Taare Zameen Par (2007). Advait also worked as Aamir’s manager for over four years, and later on Kiran Rao’s Dhobi Ghat (2010), before making his directorial debut with Secret Superstar (2017).

Different tales

Over the weekend, social media was abuzz with rumours of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan being similar to south actor Karthi’s Diwali offering, Sardar. “Dad is an R&AW agent, son is a police agent. Dad gets stuck in a different place/country while on a mission (due to villain character). Years later, he returns to take revenge on villain. There he meets his son. Then the flashback,” claimed a user. Anthony L Reuben, who is the editor of both, Sardar and Jawan, shot down the rumours, saying, “Back in school days, most of us including me, used to think that Thalaivar Rajinikanth and Captain Vijayakanth are brothers, due to the ‘kanth’ factor. Then I grew up. Few are still stuck in childhood.” Along with a clip, he signed off, stating, “I want whomsoever to screenshot this tweet and compare both the stories, after the release!”

Next shoot after a long break

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, who recently had a baby shower with their families and her close friends, are set to welcome their bundle of joy in December. Meanwhile, speculations abound over when the Darlings actor will return to work. Sources claim that it will be a year before she shoots her next film. But before that, Alia will wrap up mentor Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. Just one song with Ranveer Singh remains to be shot as location issues in Europe earlier this year compelled KJo to reschedule it to post Alia’s delivery. Till then, Alia’s entrepreneurial ventures will also keep her busy.

Saqib joins Varun, Samantha

Saqib Saleem was recently signed on for director duo Raj-DK’s Citadel, starring Varun Dhawan and Samantha. He plays a pivotal role in the Indian version of Russo Brothers’s web series that goes on floors in Mumbai next month. Saqib has begun his prep for the project that will be shot in a few other international locations. Incidentally, he has previously worked with Varun in his director-brother Rohit Dhawan’s Dishoom (2016).

Teaming up again

Over four years since Manmarziyaan (2018), Vicky Kaushal is set to work with Aanand L Rai again. Unlike their first collaboration, which was directed by Anurag Kashyap, this time around, Aanand will helm the movie himself. Sources say it is a love story and the filmmaker has completed the final draft of the screenplay. Currently in the midst of casting for the project, the filmmaker will go location-scouting after Diwali. Vicky is slated to start filming under Rai’s direction around mid-2023. By then, he will be through with Meghna Gulzar’s biopic on legendary Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.

On a fun ride

Arjun Rampal is foraying into comedy with Project Love. The comic caper sees his character making a fool-proof plan of getting his sister abducted to save her from an opportunist boyfriend. While Mahima Makwana plays his sister and Omkar Kapoor her boyfriend, what makes the comic caper interesting is that it also marks the acting debut of Arjun’s partner, Gabriella Demetriades. They are currently shooting in London under the direction of Baljit Singh Marwah.

Family banter

Navya Naveli Nanda, who is running the podcast, What The Hell Navya, with mom Shweta Bachchan-Nanda and grandmother Jaya Bachchan, asked them about their favourite films in the latest episode. Sharing her list, Jaya said that from the Indian movies, she prefers the older ones, like Dilip Kumar’s Devdas, Mughal-e-Azam. She added, “I can watch Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham [K3G] anytime.” When Shweta revealed that her son “Agastya watches it a lot,” Jaya revealed, “He watches the film to make fun of me.” Swetha explained that at times, the generation gap may be a reason why he does not understand [the movie’s appeal]. Interestingly, Agastya is making his acting debut in Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies, which releases next year.
