On Monday, Shilpa Shetty Kundra broke her silence after the arrest of husband Raj Kundra, and requested people to respect their privacy, especially that of her children. In an Instagram post, the actor wrote that she has full faith in the Mumbai Police and the judiciary. “I request you to refrain from commenting on half-baked information without verifying the veracity.” Shetty added that she is a “proud law-abiding Indian citizen” and a “hard-working professional” for the last 29 years. “People have put their faith in me and I’ve never let anyone down. We don’t deserve a media trial.” She further added that the past few days have been “challenging on every front” and the family has battled a “lot of rumours and accusations. Please let the law take its course.”

Anu copied Israeli national anthem?

Anu Malik

Anu Malik is being called out for plagiarising Israel’s national anthem Hatikvah for his song Mera mulk mera desh, which was picturised on Ajay Devgn, Akash Khurana and Farida Jalal in Diljale (1996). After Israeli gymnast Artem Dolgopyat won a gold medal at the Olympics, a social media user shared a clip of Hatikvah and netizens couldn’t help but notice the similarities with the track. A revelation almost 25 years later.

Shah Rukh Khan played the coach of the Indian women’s hockey team in Chak De! India (2007). A real version of Shimit Amin’s film unfolded after the Indian women’s squad qualified for the semi-finals at the Olympics. Soon after the win, SRK posted, “Just bring some gold on your way back for a billion family members. This time Dhanteras is also on November 2 [his 56th birthday]. From ex-coach Kabir Khan.” Indian team’s coach Sjoerd Marijne replied, “Thank you for the support and love. We will give everything again. From the real coach.” Marijne certainly knew how to match SRK’s wit.

That’s my song

Sanjay Dutt and Arvind Vegda

Gujarati folk singer Arvind Vegda wants the makers of the Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt-starrer Bhuj: The Pride of India to credit him for using the Bhai bhai bhala mori Rama track. The song, picturised on Dutt, was released on the actor’s birthday (July 29). It is sung by Mika Singh and composed by Lijo George–DJ Chetas, while Manoj Muntashir has written the lyrics. Ahmedabad-based Vegda, who was seen on Bigg Boss in 2015, says it belongs to the 13th-century Bhavai folk theatre of Gujarat. He revived the composition by rendering it over 12 years ago, and ever since, the track is synonymous with him.

In the Army

 Himanshu Malhotra

After Wajah Tum Ho (2016) and Hum Chaar (2019), TV actor Himanshu Malhotra will be seen on the big screen again in the Sidharth Malhotra-starrer Shershaah. “A lot of physical training was required for the film, but wearing the Army uniform gave a high,” says Malhotra, who plays a Major.

It’s getting hot

Priyanka Chopra Jonas

Priyanka Chopra Jonas posted a selfie from the set of Citadel while preparing to face the camera. While fans gushed over her look in the spy thriller series, husband Nick Jonas commented, “You are hot.” The doting hubby was advised by a section of netizens “to calm down” and “not make her blush.” PeeCee is shooting for the Russo Brothers’ digital show in London.

After wrapping up Danny Denzongpa’s son Rinzing’s debut film, Squad, director Nilesh Sahay is now prepping for his next action thriller starring Harshvardhan Rane. The makers have roped in Hollywood stunt coordinator Frank Torres. Known for his action choreography in several films including A Star Is Born (2018), El Chicano (2018) and The Revenant (2015), Torres says, “It’s my first Bollywood movie. Nilesh’s knowledge for the genre is unparalleled, his dedication to what he does is uplifting. When someone has that passion, you know they will make something great.” Rane adds, “I am focusing on agility and a natural approach rather than the usual fitness routine.” The film is slated to roll later this year.
