Neena Gupta recounted the horrific incident about being molested as a child in her autobiography Sach Kahun Toh and how she couldn’t tell this to her mother

Neena Gupta has been a part of Bollywood for over three decades. Post the recent blockbuster success of Badhaai Ho in 2018, she has been on a new career high with a wide range of films and performances. But her journey hasn’t been an easy one. In her autobiography Sach Kahun Toh that released in June 2021, Neena has shared some shocking incidents of her life with her fans.

She recounted one such horrific incident about being molested as a child by an optician and how she didn’t tell this to her mother. “The doctor started with examining my eye and then went down to check out other areas that were unconnected with my eye. I was scared stiff while it was happening and felt disgusted all the way home. I sat in a corner in the house and cried my eyes out when nobody was looking. But I didn’t dare tell my mother about this because I was so scared that she would say that it was my fault. That I had probably said or done something to provoke him,” Neena Gupta wrote in her biography.
Narrating a similar experience during her visit to a tailor, Neena shared that he got "too handsy" while taking her measurements. She had to keep going back to him even after this incident because she felt like she had no choice, she explains. "If I told my mother that I didn’t want to go to them, she would ask me why and I would have to tell her," Neena Gupta wrote.
The actress also revealed how she had rejected the advances of a friend’s brother at the age of 16. She stated, “I somehow managed to shrug off his advances politely without offending him or his family.”
On the work front, Neena Gupta was last seen with her daughter Masaba Gupta in Netflix’s Masaba Masaba. She’s now gearing up for the second season of the show Panchayat that came out last year. She’s also doing Sooraj Barjatya’s drama Uunchai with Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Anupam Kher, and Parineeti Chopra.
